The 2010 Acura MDX, fresh from a mid-cycle refresh for the year 2010, found a perfect time to show up in our driveway. We were able to put a good amount of miles on the Acura during our family trip and were very surprised with the end results. 2010 MDX has received major upgrades from the previous years while keeping the overall shape unchanged. New engine, transmission, wheels and interior are other notable features present in the newly refreshed MDX.

As you walk towards the MDX, the all-new front end stares at you in a rather mean look. Even though that similar front end doesn’t appeal to us in the TL, we thought Acura did a wonderful job in designing the front-end of the MDX. The grille is proportional to the overall size of the SUV and the headlights flow nicely with the whole design theme.

The new MDX also gets a new 3.7 liter V6 pushing 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Even though the torque is lower than previous model, the fuel efficiency is better with an EPA rating of 16mpg city and 21mpg highway. The engine is mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission that sends the power to all four wheels using the SH-AWD system from Acura. The suspension has been tweaked and we definitely enjoyed the drive.

The interior is where you get the bang for the buck in this classy SUV. The dash is well designed in a typical Acura fashion where all buttons and instrument panels are located the usual places. Even though Acura went extra mile with the wood trim, we thought it gave that extra touch. The seats are well-made with enough back support perfect for any long trip. Just like the norm these days, rear passengers get their own controls and a rear entertainment system. The 2nd row seats provide easy access to the third row which can also be folded for extra storage.

To conclude our review, we think Acura did its homework when coming up with this newly refreshed MDX. They made the pricing model simple so an average person doesn’t spend hours trying to figure out what they need. While the competition is still offering highly priced SUVs with fewer bells and whistles, Acura is offering a complete package that looks good, rides good and transports your family in the most luxurious way possible!
