Acura To Debut Their Next Flagship in LA.
In 1986, Honda took a huge step by releasing not just a new car, but an all-new brand. When Acura made its way onto U.S. shores, it did so with the flagship out front and soon enough, the premium brand will try to make waves once again. While the next generation flagship model will hit the market as a 2014, it will be able to be seen by all months in advance. As the doors open to the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Acura will pull the covers off of the all-new RLX.
The car that will debut November 28 will not be some one-off, poorly together, non-functioning concept but instead, the production intent version. The sedan will use a wealth of new features that should bring back fond memories of Legends past. Set up like a front drive car, the RLX will come with the all-new Precision All Wheel Steer system. By using electrically controlled actuators, the Acura can adjust its rear toe angle depending on speed, driver inputs and force. This should allow for one of the best handling front wheel drive sedans the World has experienced. It should also allow for better use of the 3.5 liter V6′s 310 horsepower.
Another first will be the use of the next generation of AcuraLink communication control. Occupants of a RLX will be able to access numerous convienience and safety features via a built-in two-way cellular system. The sedan will also feature Acura’s own lane keeping assist as well as brake assist and forward collision warning. On the outside, a set of exclusive Jewel Eye LED headlamps will surely set the big Acura apart from the rest.
