The Goodwood Festival of Speed always brings out new and exciting cars, but this might just be my favorite of the last few years. The Aston Martin DB9, arguably the most beautiful car of the last decade has just been given amore power, refined looks and a new name. The new DB9 GT is a refinement of the formula that made the original DB9 such an incredible car, and the result is the fastest, most luxurious and most powerful DB car to date.

Power from the 6.0-liter V12 has been posted to nearly 550 horsepower, and torque sees a jump as well. Of course with a sophisticated gran tourer like this, it’s less about how much power you have, and more about how you use it. For the DB9 GT that means a 0-60 sprint in a hair over four seconds and a top speed of 186 mph. Sadly there is still no manual transmission option; you are forced into the companies Touchtronic II six-speed automatic. Compared to previous iterations of the company’s paddle-shifted transmissions, the Touchtronic II is dramatically improved, but we still would love to be able to row our own.

Visually, this new car can be distinguished from lesser DB9s thanks to a new 10-spoke alloy wheel design, altered lighting treatments front and rear, and the diffuser and rear splitter are painted black. There are also various GT badges and insignias scattered around the car.

Orders for the new DB9 GT are open now. If you live in the US and you want one, call up your local dealer and pull $200,000 out of the bank.
