It starts with a breathtaking presence, a calm strength derived of clean fluid lines that attract and hold your attention. It continues with the highest level of luxury, not just for the driver and front seat passenger, but all occupants – world class, personalized control over their environments for passengers in every seat in the house. Add in an exceptional driving experience provided by a powerful yet efficient V8 engine design and available Hydraulic Body Motion Control system. Then top it all off with intuitive functionality, which anticipates and responds to the users’ needs and desires. Introducing the all-new 2011 Infiniti QX, the latest example of inspired design, performance, technology and craftsmanship from Infiniti. Available in two models, the QX56 2WD and QX56 4WD, it is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in summer 2010.

“Following closely on the introduction of the all-new 2011 Infiniti M, the 2011 Infiniti QX gives us an incredible presence in full-size performance luxury vehicles – perfect for buyers seeking style, comfort, roominess and driving exhilaration,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “Both the new M and QX also offer a full range of available innovative technology, including Blind Spot Warning and the QX’s advanced Hydraulic Body Motion Control system.”

The second-generation Infiniti QX has been totally redesigned from the platform up. Its new high-stiffness frame structure enhances ride comfort while reducing noise, vibration and harshness. The new 5.6-liter V8 engine combines the responsive acceleration of Infiniti’s VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology with the efficiency of Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) and 7-speed automatic transmission. With 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, the QX can handle tasks such as towing boats or trailers (8,500-pound towing capacity), while also offering more than 10% better fuel economy than the previous generation QX.

Inside the distinctive QX body is an interior long on luxury, including standard Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, Around View™ Monitor and Bose® 2-channel, 13-speaker Premium Audio System, and available perforated semi-aniline leather seating and a dual 7-inch color monitor DVD system which allows different sources to be played at the same time. The 2011 QX also offers ample 1st and 2nd row roominess, as well as generous luggage space.

An All-New Exterior With A Breathtaking Presence

The 2011 Infiniti QX is conceived to attract and hold viewers’ attention, conveying its underlying sense of power and strength. The design is dynamic, its size capable of transporting eight adults and their belongings with spacious elegance. The bold front chrome grille is flanked by automatic on/off bi-functional xenon headlights with available headlight washers and integrated front fog lights. Auto-leveling headlights with Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) are optionally available.

Other exterior features include LED taillights, heated, power-folding sideview mirrors with integrated turn signals, courtesy lights and reverse tilt-down feature, body color running boards, body color integrated front and rear splash guards built into the wheel arches, roof rails, power sliding tinted glass moonroof and a power rear liftgate.

The new QX features revised dimensions versus the previous generation – 1.4-inches longer, 1.1-inches wider and 3.8-inches lower in overall height. A front underbody spoiler, rear liftgate spoiler and redesigned side mirrors help provide improved aerodynamics of 0.37 Cd and zero lift. The QX’s strong presence is accented by the powerful wheel and tire combinations – standard 20-inch and available 22-inch – and a palette of six distinctive exterior colors.

“The look is clearly Infiniti with its signature Infiniti grille, broad shoulders and large greenhouse,” said Poore. “It’s rugged, sophisticated and completely captivating.”

Power and Innovation Under the Skin

The 2011 Infiniti QX’s all-new body and frame are designed to provide enhanced body stiffness and reduced vibration versus the previous QX design.

Structural changes include a new high-stiffness frame structure with enlarged side rail section width, redesigned connecting structures between each crossmember and side rails, an integrated rear hitch member, improved stiffness of the cabin mounting points and a special rear body ring structure around the tailgate.

“Customers will never be aware of the extensive efforts taken in the development of the QX frame and body to reduce flex, rattles and squeaks – they’ll just enjoy a quiet, comfortable ride that’s unexpected in a full-size SUV,” added Poore. “The new platform can handle family adventures to rugged terrain, without compromising its smooth ride for everyday, around-town cruising.”

The second-generation Infiniti QX also offers new engine and transmission designs – delivering, a combination of power, efficiency and refinement worthy of the Infiniti name. The new 5.6-liter 32-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy V8 features Infiniti’s advanced VVEL (for Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology and new Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) system.

The VVEL system combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response. Throttle response is enhanced by directly controlling the intake valve, rather than using the traditional method of controlling intake with the throttle valve. The VVEL system also offers improved emissions and fuel efficiency (over non-VVEL designs) by substantially reducing the intake resistance that occurs when the engine’s throttle valve opening is narrowed and output is low. The new DIG™ system provides better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offering more precise injection control.

The engine is rated at 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, compared with 320 horsepower and 393 lb-ft of torque produced by the 2010 QX’s non-VVEL/non-DIG™ V8. With a 25% increase in horsepower, the 2011 QX does not sacrifice fuel economy, which increases by more than 10% versus the 2010 QX.

Also contributing to the enhanced fuel economy is the 2011 QX’s standard 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) and manual shift mode with Downshift Rev Match.

Versus the 2010 QX’s 5-speed automatic, the new 7-speed transmission boasts a wider range of gear ratios, a variable lockup torque converter, a new improved shift schedule and a new automatic transmission fluid warmer designed to reduce fuel consumption at start up.

The QX is offered in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, with the 4WD model featuring Infiniti’s proven All-Mode 4WD? system with Auto, 4H, and 4L modes. The system is designed to distribute torque to all four wheels when road conditions warrant (up to 50 percent can go to the front wheels on demand), helping to enhance traction.

All QX models also include Hill Start Assist. With Hill Start Assist, if a driver stops on a slope and steps off the brake pedal, the system will keep the QX stationary for a few seconds – with no roll back. This enables drivers to easily switch from the brake pedal to the accelerator on steep inclines.

For the first time ever on an Infiniti vehicle, a new Hydraulic Body Motion Control system is offered (available on both 2WD and 4WD models as part of the Deluxe Touring Package, which also includes 22-inch wheels and tires and a number of other features). The system helps reduce body lean while turning for a more comfortable ride. Utilizing hydraulic cylinders located at the shock absorbers (connected via cross piping and two accumulators), it adjusts roll stiffness by allowing transfer of fluid between the left and right sides of the vehicle through passive weight transfer during normal driving. It also helps reduce bump shock by setting bounce and roll damping forces separately.

The QX’s suspension is an independent double-wishbone design front and rear, with Dual-Flow Path® twin tube shock absorbers, stabilizer bars and an automatic rear leveling system that seeks to maintain uniform ground clearance and departure angle, even when towing or carrying cargo, by automatically adjusting the air pressure in the system's air bladders.

Braking is provided by 4-wheel disc brakes (13.8-inch vented discs front and rear) with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD). Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and 2-wheel or 4-wheel Active Brake Limited-Slip (ABLS) are standard on every QX56. Engine-speed-sensitive power steering is also standard.

The QX’s maximum towing capacity is 8,500 pounds for both 2WD and 4WD models. A special tow mode revises shift patterns when engaged. Standard towing features include a Class IV tow hitch and 7-pin wiring harness integrated into the rear bumper (with a cover for an elegant appearance when not in use).

Every 2011 QX comes with 20-inch, split 7-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with P275/60R20 all-season performance tires, while 22-inch, 9-spoke forged aluminum-alloy wheels with P275/50R22 all-season performance tires are included with the Deluxe Touring Package. A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with four-corner pressure readout and Tire Inflation Indicator is also standard.

“The new QX gives drivers the feeling of a connection to the road,” said Poore. “There’s also a remarkable level of flat ride comfort, plenty of power and torque, and a solid feel throughout the vehicle that’s reassuring and enjoyable for all passengers.”

A World-Class Travel Experience

The new QX’s world-class inner sanctum offers a comfortable space and personal controls for every occupant. It features standard 7-passenger seating capacity, with 8-passenger capacity available with the 2nd row 60/40-split folding bench seat. Leather-appointed seating is standard for all three rows, with even more luxurious semi-aniline leather seating surfaces offered in the Deluxe Touring Package. The driver’s seat is 10-way power adjustable, including 2-way power lumbar support. It features a standard dual occupant memory system for the driver’s seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors. The front passenger’s seat is 8-way power adjustable, including 2-way power lumbar support. Heated front seat are standard, with available climate-controlled (heating and cooling functions) front seats and heated 2nd row seats (outboard positions only). The 2nd row captain’s chairs offer a tip-up function for easy 3rd row entry/exit.

Also available is a remote release for the 2nd row seats to active the tip-up function through a switch on the center stack. The 3rd row seat is a 60/40-split power folding design with reclining capability. The 2nd row center console includes two cupholders and two storage bins.

Also standard is a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. Ample space for luggage is provided with the 3rd row seat up. When down, the flat load floor offers a wide, versatile space for carrying cargo, home furnishings or recreational gear.

Two interior colors are available – Wheat or Graphite – along with two interior finisher colors, a standard light trim or a darker trim with the Deluxe Touring Package.

“If you could take the interior of a private jet and transform it into a full-size SUV, this wouldn’t be far off,” said Poore. “From its available sofa-like semi-aniline leather seating to its premium audio and three-source entertainment systems, the QX interior is world-class. It’s a highly adaptive environment, with a quality and quietness that adds to the stress-free driving and riding experience.”

The long list of additional comfort and convenience features includes 9 cupholders and 4 door-pocket bottle holders, Tri-Zone Automatic Temperature Control, Infiniti Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, FineVision electroluminescent gauges and Infiniti signature analog clock. Available as part of the Deluxe Touring Package is an Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS) with Plasmacluster™ air purifier, Grape Polyphenol filter and auto recirculation.

Among the new QX’s available premium entertainment and technology features are an 8-inch WVGA color touch-screen display, Infiniti Controller for use with vehicle information systems and comfort and convenience features, and the Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with XM NavTraffic® with Real-Time Traffic Information, XM NavWeather™ with Real-Time Weather and 3-day forecast (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and Zagat® Restaurant Guide. Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System is standard, as is the convenient Around View™ Monitor with Front and Rear Sonar System. The Around View™ Monitor includes a new wide rear view camera.

The Bose® 2-channel, 13-speaker Premium Audio System includes two subwoofers. Roof-mounted 3rd row speakers ensure that sound quality us not compromised by obstructions such as luggage or cargo.

Other standard equipment includes a single in-dash CD/DVD player with MP3 playback, XM® Satellite Radio, USB connection port for use with iPod® Interface or other compatible devices and Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®.

The available Theater Package features dual 7-inch color monitors, two pairs of wireless headphones, wireless remote control, auxiliary input jacks and 120V power outlet. The QX allows playback of games or movies in the rear, while front occupants listen to audio all at the same time. The two 7-inch color monitors include an auto-bright system that adjusts for daytime, clouds/evening and night/tunnel lighting.

Available Technology

Like the new 2011 Infiniti M sedan, the new QX offers a range of advanced technology systems. The QX includes both Infiniti’s Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems. The LDW and LDP systems use a small camera installed behind the windshield to detect lane markers in front of the vehicle, calculate its position relative to those lane markers and help warn the driver of a potential unintended lane departure with a visual indicator and audible buzzer. If the driver does not return the vehicle back toward the center of the travel lane, the LDP system assists the driver with a gentle application of the brakes on the opposite side of the drift.

A new Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system is also available. It illuminates an indicator light if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area. If the driver then activates the turn signal, the indicator flashes and an audible warning sounds.

Optional on the new QX56 is Infiniti's advanced Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), which, using a combination of laser sensors, throttle and brake actuators and the QX56’s braking system, measures the distance to the vehicle ahead and automatically adjusts the QX56’s speed to maintain a pre-selected following distance.

Distance Control Assist (DCA), which intuitively prompts the driver to release the throttle and applies the brakes as needed in slowing traffic, is available as part of the Technology Package – along with Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and front Pre-Crash Seat Belts.

The QX56’s extensive list of standard safety features includes an Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors; roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags with rollover sensor for outboard occupant head protection for all three rows; front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags; 3-point front seat belts with pretensioners, load limiters and seat belt reminder; 3-point seat belts for all rear seat occupants (including center position); front seat Active Head Restraints; and LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren). The QX56 also offers Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones and steel side-door guard beams.

“The new Infiniti QX utilizes technology, such as Distance Control Assist and Intelligent Cruise Control, as it should be – to help reduce the stress of driving without isolating the driver from the pleasure of driving,” said Poore.

Models and Packages

The 2011 Infiniti QX is available in two well-equipped models: Infiniti QX56 2WD and Infiniti QX56 4WD. Each is equipped with the advanced 5.6-liter V8 and 7-speed automatic transmission and a full range of luxury and performance features including leather-appointed seating, Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, Around View™ Monitor and premium audio system.

A number of additional equipment packages are offered, allowing buyers to fine-tune their QX experience to their exact needs. The Deluxe Touring Package includes 22-inch, 9-spoke forged aluminum-alloy wheels and P275/50R22 all-season performance tires, Hydraulic Body Motion Control system, climate-controlled front seats, heated 2nd row seats (outboard only), remote tip-up 2nd row rear seats for easy 3rd row entry/exit, semi-aniline leather seating surfaces, and the Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS). The Deluxe Touring Package also includes headlight washers on the QX56 4WD.

The QX’s Theater Package features dual 7-inch color monitors, two pairs of wireless headphones, wireless remote control, auxiliary inputs and 120V power outlet, while the Split Bench Seat Package includes the 2nd row bench seat with 60/40-split folding.

Finally, the Technology Package offers Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Distance Control Assist (DCA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Front Pre-Crash Seat Belts, and Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) with auto-leveling headlights.

While every 2010 Infiniti G Sedan, Coupe or Convertible seems special to those who design, engineer, manufacture or market them – and also to their owners – Infiniti has just released four new G Anniversary Editions that stand apart from every other Infiniti G ever created. These uniquely equipped Anniversary G37s, built in commemoration of Infiniti’s 20th anniversary, will be available in very limited numbers – 350 G Sedans and 200 each for the G Coupe and G Convertible. They are scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in mid-April.

“These unique and very limited editions represent what Infiniti is all about – Inspired Performance,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “Building on the popularity of the Monaco Red Leather and special Red-toned Maple interior that helped launch the G Convertible, the Anniversary Editions add a number of new styling touches that will make them instantly recognizable on the showroom floor and on the road.”

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP)* for the four available 2010 Infiniti G Anniversary Editions are:

G37 Sedan Anniversary Edition $43,350 USD

G37 Sedan AWD Anniversary Edition $43,550 USD

G37 Coupe Anniversary Edition $50,550 USD

G37 Convertible Anniversary Edition $54,900 USD

The Anniversary Editions are based on the G Sedan Journey and AWD, G Coupe Journey and G Convertible and come standard with a 3.7-liter V6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. Premium and Navigation Packages are included on all of the Anniversary Editions.

The Anniversary Edition Sedans and Coupe also receive the Sport Package and 4-Wheel Active Steer (not available on Sedan AWD). The Convertible is offered with the highly desirable climate-controlled seats.

Each Anniversary Edition comes in a new Graphite Shadow exterior color that was just added for 2010, with the interiors appointed with Monaco Red Leather. The Coupe and Convertible interiors are accented with special Red-toned Maple and the two Sedans have the new Shodo-finish aluminum trim.

Other Anniversary Edition equipment includes special aluminum-alloy wheels, W-rated summer performance tires, Midnight Black grille, unique front chin spoiler or front fascia, sport side sills (Coupe and Convertible) and rear spoiler (except Convertible). The Coupe also receives an updated rear fascia.

“We wanted to ensure that the G Anniversary Editions are the sportiest and most distinctive Infinitis offered,” added Poore. “Though they won’t arrive until April, we wanted to release pricing early to allow interested buyers to reserve the Anniversary Sedan, Coupe or Convertible of their choice before they are all gone.”

2011 Infiniti M Sedan Set for Spring Launch; Offers Tailored, Vibrant Experience for Driver and Passengers. All-New Infiniti M56 and M37 Feature More Power, Magnetic Design, Luxurious Interior and World’s First Blind Spot Intervention™ System.

Performance reshaped to ignite invigoration. Luxury alive to the human touch. Industry-first technology honed to anticipate. Of all the ways used to describe Infiniti’s all-new halo sedan, the 2011 Infiniti M, it all perhaps comes down to one word – Inspired. Like the dramatic Infiniti Essence Concept, which served as a blueprint for the new M’s designers and engineers, this next-generation M embraces the essence of all things Infiniti – style, performance, luxury, craftsmanship and technology.

“The 2011 Infiniti M embodies all of our best thinking, design and quality to date,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “It builds on the strengths of the previous generation, delivering a performance luxury experience crafted to a higher standard.”

The 2011 Infiniti M will be offered in M37 and M56 model designations when it goes on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in spring 2010. The M37 features a refined 3.7-liter V6 engine with increased power and fuel economy (versus the previous generation M35’s 3.5-liter V6). The M56 also offers more power and better fuel economy from an all-new 5.6-liter V8 (versus the previous generation M45’s 4.5-liter V8). Both the M37 and M56 engines feature Infiniti’s advanced VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) system and all models are equipped with a standard 7-speed automatic transmission. The M56 engine also utilizes Direct Injection Gasoline™ (DIG) technology. The M37 and M56 are available in both rear-wheel drive and with Infiniti’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. A special Sport Package, offered on rear-wheel drive models only, offers 4-wheel Active Steer (4WAS), sport-tuned suspension, Sport Brakes and 20-inch wheels and tires.

The new M is a showcase for Infiniti’s advanced, user-focused technologies, carrying on the tradition of the previous generation M. New technologies include:

Infiniti Drive, a four-mode driver-selectable control of throttle and transmission mapping that helps optimize vehicle performance

Active Noise Control, which reduces undesirable engine harmonics, providing a quieter cabin

Blind Spot Warning (BSW), which helps alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area

Blind Spot Intervention™ (BSI), a world’s first system that, enhances BSW by helping the driver return the vehicle back toward the center of the lane of travel away from the vehicle in the blind spot area

Forest Air™ system, which helps reduce the intrusion of unpleasant odors into the cabin and provides a more natural breeze-like airflow

Eco Pedal, which provides driver feedback to encourage eco-driving behavior

Active Trace Control, which adjusts engine torque and the control of braking at each of the four wheels to help enhance cornering performance

Double-piston Shock Absorbers that control damping force according to frequency of input from the road surface

The 2011 M also offers a next-generation Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, Bose® Studio Surround® premium audio system, Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems, Distance Control Assist (DCA), Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Front Pre-Crash Seat Belts.

“The new M utilizes technology that enhances the driving experience, rather than intrudes upon it, adapting to changing conditions or the driver’s mood to provide optimized performance,” said Poore. “The same philosophy holds true for the design of the M’s luxurious interior, which blends comfort and technology in an intuitive, completely harmonious way to provide both driver and passengers with an unforgettable experience, every time they enter the cabin.”

Magnetic Styling With an Unexpectedly Spacious Cabin

The story behind the exterior design of the all-new M is multi-layered, just like the body surface itself, which was conceived to mirror reflections from different angles to create a sense of mystery and magnetic allure.

Building on the previous M’s balanced, rear-wheel drive proportions and stance – with a long, low hood and high rear deck – the new M maintains the roomy cabin of its predecessor while providing a longer, lower and wider shape. The M wheelbase is unchanged at 114.2 inches, but the width has been increased by 2.0 inches (to 72.6 inches), the length increased by 0.6-inch (to 194.7 inches) and the overall height lowered by 0.4-inch (to 59.1 inches). The front and rear tracks have been increased by 1.4 and 0.8 inches respectively (to 62.0 inches front and rear).

Along with the more aggressive dimensions, the new M’s sportier appearance can be attributed to the deep body shape of the fenders and doors that give the M sedan a powerful look unlike anything on the road. The new wave-style doors are constructed from aluminum for light weight, despite the material’s difficult formability. The stamping dies for each door are hand polished to maintain their precision and every door undergoes an exacting human inspection, providing a handcrafted level of quality.

Like the previous M, the new design optimizes both luxury and sport styling cues – with an expressive, signature Infiniti double-arch upright low grille and crystal-look headlight clusters, large aluminum-alloy wheels, and a wave-like trunk with a high aerodynamic performance that works like a spoiler to increase downforce. Infiniti M37 and M56 models equipped with the optional Sport Package also feature a unique front fascia, dark finish grille, dark headlight housings and 20-inch wheels and tires.

Underneath and unseen, though contributing to the new M’s low coefficient of drag of just 0.27 and zero lift front and rear, are a series of aerodynamic enhancers including front tire deflector, engine under cover (front and rear), center floor cover, rear tire deflectors, exhaust cover, floor side fairings and rear diffuser.

“The look of the new M is distinctively Infiniti – vibrant, aggressive and comfortably complex to hold your interest over the life of ownership,” said Poore.

Standard exterior features include a power sliding tinted glass moonroof with one-touch open/close, tilt feature and sliding sunshade, automatic on/off High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional Xenon headlights with windshield wiper interlock, dual exhaust with chrome tips, power-folding heated outside mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature, rain-sensing variable intermittent front windshield wipers and courtesy lamps built into the outside door handles. Auto-leveling headlights with Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) are available as part of the Technology Package.

For 2011, the Infiniti M is available in eight exterior colors: Malbec Black, Liquid Platinum, Platinum Graphite, Blue Slate, Storm Front Grey, Black Obsidian, Moonlight White and Harbour Blue.

An Interior That Fits Like a “Second Skin”

Unlike other performance luxury sedans that prioritize the impression their vehicles make on others, Infiniti’s intention is different – with the focus centered around the individual driving the car. Nowhere is this philosophy more apparent than in the new M’s interior that adapts to different driver conditions. Created almost as a “second skin,” the carefully tailored and crafted M cockpit becomes an extension of the driver.

The M’s engineers and designers researched all areas of the M interior, from the space between and shape of switches and controls to the response of occupants to material softness and textures. The result is what its creators describe as a “warm human accuracy with sensuality.”

“The goal of the new M’s interior is to present an elegant yet functional design that combines artistry with precision, comfort with innovation – all in support of enhancing driving performance and passenger enjoyment,” said Poore. “From the handcrafted wood accents to the custom leather appointments, we’ve made luxury more sensory and alluring.”

Careful attention was paid to identifying the precise location for key controls, using consistent shapes and groupings for controls that work in the same manner. There are three areas of operability – the sight information area, the operation area and the easy access area.

The M instrument panel features “Fine Vision” electroluminescent gauges, gear-like rings on the instrument cluster meters, a 7.0-inch vehicle information display, Infiniti analog clock and unique aluminum trim surface texturing. Leather-appointed, 10-way power driver and front passenger’s seats with adjustable lumbar support are standard, along with a dual occupant memory system for the driver’s seat, steering wheel, outside mirrors, HVAC and audio settings – which are linked to the individual Intelligent Keys. An entry/exit assist system for the driver’s seat and steering wheel, heated front seats, sequential welcome lighting illuminated entry system and dual-zone automatic temperature also contribute to the M’s outstanding level of standard luxury appointments.

Standard technology equipment includes Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, Infiniti Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver and RearView Monitor.

Other interior highlights include a large center console, power windows with one-touch up/down and auto-reverse feature, power auto door locks, power trunk release, retained accessory power for windows and moonroof, standard XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and 6-speaker audio system with AM/FM/CD, Radio Data System (RDS), USB Connection Port for iPod® and other compatible devices, steering wheel audio controls and speed-sensitive volume control.

Listening to music or conversation in the M interior is a little easier thanks to the new Active Noise Control system. Standard on all 2011 M models, Active Noise Control uses sound to delete sound – generating “canceling” sound from four door speakers to reduce unpleasant engine harmonics. The cabin noise levels are monitored by two microphones located in the M’s ceiling, with no action needed from the driver and passengers except to enjoy the quiet, comfortable cabin.

For buyers seeking a slightly higher level of features and technology, the Premium Package adds the next-generation Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with 8.0-inch VGA color touch-screen display, XM NavTraffic® with Real-Time Traffic Information, XM NavWeather™ with Real-Time Weather and 3-day forecast (XM® subscription required, sold separately), Zagat® Restaurant Guide, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and 9.3GB Music Box® Hard Drive.

The Premium Package also adds a Bose® 2-channel 10-speaker premium audio system, heated steering wheel and climate-controlled front seats. All Premium Package equipment is standard on the M56 and M56x AWD.

The Touring Package adds such notable features as the Bose® Studio Surround® sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding and 16 speakers (including two personal speakers mounted in the shoulders of each front seat), power rear sunshade, unique quilted seat pattern with contrasting piping, additional seat bolstering, suede-like headliner and a stitched, synthetic leather meter hood.

The Touring Package also features semi-aniline leather, which feels soft and firm like premium sofa material, in two available colors – Java or Stone. Also utilized is specially developed soft synthetic leather for the armrests, door inserts, center console and kneepads. The Touring Package’s genuine White Ash wood trim has been enhanced with real silver powder. Japanese Ash wood trim is offered on base and Sport models.

The Touring Package also offers the new Forest Air™ system, which recreates the refreshing climate and natural breezes of a relaxing forest setting. System sensors automatically open and close air intake ports to reduce the intrusion of dust, exhaust or unpleasant odors into the cabin, while the special grape polyphenol filter and Plasmacluster™ air purifier help filter allergens, mold and viruses out of the cabin. Humidity control prevents the over-drying of air from the air conditioner, while the breeze mode provides a natural airflow feeling, gently and subtly varying the airflow from the upper and front air vents.

Four interior colors are offered – Graphite, Stone, Wheat and Java (availability varies with option packages). Sport Package-equipped models receive unique front seat designs, sport steering wheel and shift knob stitching, and aluminum-trimmed pedals.

“With materials designed to provide a more premium feel and technology that anticipates the needs of the user, the new M provides the highest level of luxury of any Infiniti to date,” said Poore. “This is an interior that makes you want to just keep driving.”

Two Advanced Powerplants, A Naturally Dynamic Driving Feel

Infiniti engineers envisioned the all-new M to deliver a more fluid, naturally dynamic performance feeling, sculpting the power of the VVEL-equipped 3.7-liter V6 and 5.6-liter V8 to release like a rising wave.

The engines’ VVEL systems combine hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response. Throttle response is enhanced by directly controlling the intake valve, rather than using the traditional method of controlling intake with the throttle valve. The VVEL systems also offer improved emissions and fuel efficiency (over the non-VVEL designs) by substantially reducing the intake resistance that occurs when the engine’s throttle valve opening is narrowed and output is low.

The M37’s 3.7-liter VVEL, 24-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy V6 is rated at 330 hp @ 7,000 rpm, 270 lb-ft of torque @ 5,200 rpm, increases of 27 horsepower and 8 lb-ft of torque versus the previous 3.5-liter V6. The engine also features rigid ladder frame construction, large crank journal and pin diameters, asymmetric piston skirts, twin knock sensors, an electronically controlled “drive-by-wire” throttle system, molybdenum coated lightweight pistons, Iridium spark plugs and a symmetric twin air intake system.

The M56’s 5.6-liter VVEL, 32-valve, DOHC, Direct Injection Gasoline™ (DIG) aluminum-alloy V8 is rated at 420 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque, increases of 95 horsepower and 81 lb-ft of torque versus the previous 4.5-liter V8.

The new DIG™ system provides better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offered more precise injection control.

All 2011 Ms come standard with Infiniti’s refined 7-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC), which allows for sportier shifts during spirited driving. Solid magnesium paddle shifters are standard with the Sport Package (RWD models only).

A unique new feature of the 2011 M is Infiniti Drive, an integrated control system that allows drivers to select from four driving modes, depending on mood or driving conditions, with a dial switch located on the center console. Each mode, Standard, Eco, Sport or Snow, adjusts throttle sensitivity and transmission mapping to help optimize performance.

In addition to the standard mode (suitable for normal driving conditions), the fuel-efficient Eco mode utilizes green and yellow lights on the instrument panel to provide feedback on driving efficiency. The system also provides feedback directly through the accelerator pedal, giving a slight pushback if driving inefficiently. The Sport mode allows engine rpm to rev higher and extends transmission shift points for more power and quicker response.

The new M utilizes the advanced FM (Front Mid-ship) platform, which positions the engine behind the front axle, resulting in an optimized front-to-rear weight balance. In addition to increasing the number of places where the body joints are welded, laser welding is now performed at critical locations to help enhance lateral bending stiffness, torsional stiffness and suspension mounting point stiffness (versus the previous M design).

The M suspension continues the previous generation’s independent double-wishbone design in front and multi-link independent system in the rear, along with front and rear stabilizer bars. The rear suspension geometry has been updated to provide a quieter ride.

The Sport Package’s sport-tuned suspension includes new double-piston shock absorbers that provide a high damping force at low frequency vibrations for a flat ride and low damping force at high frequency vibrations for a smoother ride.

Also available with the Sport Package is the 4-Wheel Active Steer system, which helps provide lower steering effort and agile handling at low/medium speeds and a more stable feel at higher speeds. Depending on the vehicle speed and the steering angle, the rear wheels are steered in-phase with the front wheels.

The Infiniti M’s large diameter wheels and tires are positioned out near the corners of the vehicle, helping to enhance handling. Standard 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and P245/50R18 V-rated tires are offered on all models. Unique 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with aggressive P245/40R20 low-profile summer tires are available with the Sport Package.

Every 2011 M utilizes standard 4-wheel power-assisted vented disc brakes (12.6-inch front, 12.1-inch rear) with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). The Sport Package includes larger 14.0-inch front/13.8-inch rear rotors with 4-piston front/2-piston rear opposed calipers.

The steering system is an electronically controlled vehicle-speed-sensing variable-assist power rack-and-pinion design. Every Infiniti M includes Infiniti’s advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS). VDC automatically adjusts brake pressure and engine torque during certain situations where the vehicle is near its handling limit, helping the driver to maintain control of the vehicle.

For drivers seeking the enhanced performance of all-wheel drive, the M37x and M56x models feature Infiniti Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The system uses an advanced torque split control strategy that automatically redistributes torque to the wheels (0:100 up to 50:50 front to rear) according to road and driving conditions.

“The new Infiniti M is designed to take the driver to a deeper level of performance, whether on a winding mountain road or navigating more efficiency through city traffic,” said Poore. “It’s a completely balanced performance, maximizing power, handling and ride comfort on one exceptional package.”

Advanced Safety and Security Systems

The 2011 Infiniti M is available with a number of innovative technologies designed to help avoid potentially dangerous situations. The M again offers Infiniti’s Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems. The LDW and LDP systems use a small camera installed behind the windshield to detect lane markers in front of the vehicle, calculate its position relative to those lane markers and warn the driver of a potential unintended lane departure with a visual display and audible buzzer. If the driver does not return the vehicle back toward the center of the travel lane, the LDP system assists the driver with a gentle application of the brakes.

New for 2011 is the addition of the Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Blind Spot Intervention™ (BSI) systems, which are available as part of the M Technology Package. BSW illuminates an indicator light if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area. If the driver then uses the turn signal, the indicator flashes and an audible warning sound. BSI is another world-first safety feature from Infiniti and takes blind spot technology to the next level. If the vehicle gets close to the lane marker and another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area, the indicator flashes, an audible warning sounds, and selective braking is applied to one side of the vehicle to help the driver bring the vehicle back to the center of the driving lane. BSI operates regardless of turn signal usage.

Other available safety features include Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Front Pre-Crash Seat Belts.

In addition, all 2011 Infiniti M models come equipped with standard Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors; standard front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags; and standard roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection.

The Infiniti M also includes standard 3-point ALR/ELR seat belts (driver’s seat ELR only), front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, front seat Active Head Restraints with 4-way manual adjustments, along with Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones and LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tether for CHildren).

Four Well-Equipped Models

The 2011 Infiniti M is offered in four well-equipped models: the M37 (V6 rear-wheel drive), M37x AWD (V6 all-wheel drive), M56 (V8 rear-wheel drive) and M56x (V8 all-wheel drive).

The Sport Package, offered with M37 and M56 rear-wheel drive only, adds 20-inch wheels and tires, Sport Suspension, Sport Brakes, 4-Wheel Active Steer (4WAS), paddle shifters, sport seat, aluminum pedal accents, stitched synthetic leather meter hood, sport steering wheel and shift knob, unique front fascia with dark finish grille and dark headlight housings.

Other available 2011 M option packages include the Premium Package, Touring Package, Sport Touring Package and Technology Package.

2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan Features Refreshed Exterior Styling, Refined Interior and Enhanced Navigation System. Infiniti’s Top Selling Model Continues to Offer Exceptional Performance, Style and Luxury.

Since Infiniti first burst on the automotive scene 20 years ago, it has maintained a reputation as having not only one of the most dynamic product lineups in the industry but also one of the freshest – with a constant stream of new or enhanced models. The 2010 calendar year is no exception with a greatly refined Infiniti G37 Sedan debuting prior the scheduled launches of all-new, next generations of the Infiniti M and Infiniti QX.

For 2010, the G Sedan, Infiniti’s top-selling model, features revised exterior styling, an enhanced interior treatment and upgraded technology features. Most of the enhancements, except for the exterior refinements, are also available on the 2010 G37 Coupe and recently introduced G37 Convertible. 2010 G buyers have a range of four well-equipped models to choose from – G37 Sedan, G37 Sedan Journey, G37S Sedan Sport 6MT and G37x Sedan AWD.

All 2010 G Sedans are equipped with a refined 328-horsepower 3.7-liter VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) V6. A smooth, efficient 7-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models except the G37 Sport 6MT, which, as appropriate for a cutting-edge performance sports sedan, comes with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. The G37x Sedan AWD is equipped with an advanced Infiniti Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system for enhanced all-weather performance.

“The Infiniti G is a vehicle for people who never slow down or settle for the status quo, so our goal has always been to keep the design fresh, the performance engaging and the equipment perfectly in-tune with the needs of these active owners,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit.

Refreshed, Sporty Styling For 2010

For 2010, the G Sedan retains its visually striking exterior design, with its long, wave-like hood, raked A-pillars and athletic stance projecting a balance of power and grace that is suggestive of the performance potential within.

The front of the G Sedan is highlighted by its new headlights and grille, which offer a crisp form and high quality feel. The G’s standard fog lights have been moved from their previous location in the headlight cluster to the lower fascia where they help provide a more upscale and distinctive appearance. Every G offers standard High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional Xenon headlights. G37 Sport models also receive a new, distinctive front fascia and separate fog lights. The silhouette offers a wedged roofline and a sweeping bodyside character line that emphasizes both the rich shoulder surfaces and the G’s rear-wheel drive orientation.

In the rear, the refined, evolutional L-shaped LED taillights express the G heritage and the Infiniti design identity. The trunk lid is accented by an integrated spoiler, while prominent dual exhaust outlets complete the sporty appearance. All 2010 models receive a revised rear fascia with an improved exhaust finisher treatment. G37, G37 Journey and G37x AWD models feature a new 17-inch 5-spoke “triple forks” aluminum-alloy wheel design.

Two new exterior colors are offered for 2010, Smoky Quartz and Graphite Shadow, along with carryover colors Vibrant Red, Lakeshore Slate, Liquid Platinum, Blue Slate, Black Obsidian and Moonlight White.

Interior Refinements Add to Crafted, Quality Feel

Like the exterior, the 2010 G Sedan’s interior has been given a fresh look and feel for the new model year, along with upgrades to the navigation system and revised optional package content. Every G37 Sedan offers a crafted interior environment and luxury features such as standard leather-appointed seating and an available audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels® by Bose® premium audio system, which combines Bose’®s 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with a parcel shelf-mounted subwoofer.

A 2GB Music Box Flash Memory Music Server is available with the Premium Package. Other enhancements for 2010 include a new, predominately white color scheme for the gauges and LCD instrument display, improving both legibility and cohesiveness of design. There is also a new center console design (7AT models) and the previous “Washi” aluminum trim has been replaced by “Shodo” aluminum trim inspired by a style of Japanese calligraphy. The Wheat and Stone leather-appointed interior colors are now lighter (Graphite color also available), and the available maple interior accents are now high gloss.

Unchanged is the G’s harmony between the dedicated driver’s cockpit and comfortable passenger space – and between modern technology and traditional Japanese design cues. The result is a “modern warmth” that is unique in the sport sedan segment. The driver’s area has a simple, intuitive layout with easy-to-read electroluminescent gauges. A center information display, located between the tachometer and speedometer, conveys updates from the drive computer (average fuel consumption, instantaneous fuel economy, average speed, elapsed time, running distance, distance to empty, outside air temperature, warning displays, odometer and automatic transmission shift indicator).

The G’s available Infiniti Navigation System has been enhanced with 08IT technology and a new display screen with higher resolution than the previous generation system’s screen. Along with the previously available XM NavTraffic® Real-Time Traffic Information, the navigation system adds NavWeather™ with Real-Time Weather and 3-day forecast (XM® subscription required, sold separately), Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and Zagat® Restaurant Guide. The system also includes a touch screen, Voice Recognition and a 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive.

Other technologies include standard Infiniti Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, standard 7.0-inch color monitor display, standard XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately), available RearView Monitor, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System and Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking.

Powerful, Responsive 3.7-liter V6 Performance

As stunning as the G Sedan looks from the outside, its real beauty is best experienced from behind the wheel. The G’s balanced dynamic performance starts with its advanced 3.7-liter VQ37HR V6 with VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift). Rated at 328 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, the engine’s VVEL system combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response. The VVEL system also offers improved emissions and fuel efficiency over the non-VVEL designs. The VVEL intake camshafts, featuring continuously variable lift control teamed with the Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS), allow for a 7,600 rpm redline.

The engine also features rigid ladder frame construction, large crank journal and pin diameters, asymmetric piston skirts, twin knock sensors, an electronically controlled “drive-by-wire” throttle system, coated lightweight pistons, Iridium spark plugs and a symmetric twin air intake system. The specially tuned dual exhaust system features equal length exhaust manifolds and low muffler exhaust backpressure to help improve engine breathing. Both intake and exhaust enhance driving pleasure with their authentic performance notes.

To help take full advantage of the refined engine design, the G37 Sedan comes with a standard (except for the G37S Sport 6MT model) 7-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching, Drive Sport mode and ASC (Adaptive Shift Control) that allows for sportier shifts in performance driving situations. Solid magnesium paddle shifters are standard on G37 Special Edition models and as part of the Sport Package for G37 Journey and G37x AWD models. The G37S Sport 6MT features a smooth-shifting, close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.

“It is important to us to offer the G Sedan with a choice of transmissions – the 6-speed manual for the pure sports enthusiasts and our refined 7-speed automatic that, especially when combined with the available steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, provides nearly the same high level of driver control,” said Poore.

Estimated fuel economy is rated at 19 mpg City and 27 mpg Highway with the 7-speed automatic transmission and 17 mpg City/25 mpg Highway AWD with the 6-speed manual transmission. Fuel economy for G37x AWD models is estimated at 18 City/25 Highway

Along with the 3.7-liter engine, every 2010 G37 Sedan is equipped with the advanced FM platform, which locates the engine behind the front axle in the “Front Mid-ship” position. The positioning of the engine provides good front-to-rear weight balance, while the combination of long wheelbase, manageable overall length and wide front and rear track adds to the G Sedan’s overall handling stability. The G37’s suspension is a 4-wheel independent design with lightweight aluminum components and front and rear stabilizer bars, designed to provide nimble and natural feeling handling, as well as a controlled, refined ride.

The front suspension minimizes alignment changes through use of a single pivot lower wishbone and a long upper link. The rear suspension design separates the shock absorbers and springs, locating the shock absorber inline with the wheel center to help reduce suspension friction and reduce the wind-up motion of the axle on acceleration.

The Infiniti G37 6MT and G37 Journey models with the optional Sport Package include a sport-tuned suspension and 14.7:1 sport-tuned steering gear.

The G37x Sedan AWD model features a state-of-the-art “intelligent” all-wheel drive system with Infiniti’s ATTESA E-TS® (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system. The system utilizes an active torque distribution management system with an active center clutch designed for smooth starts and better traction and maneuverability on snowy roads than conventional all-wheel drive systems, plus minimal compromise of rear-wheel drive performance characteristics on dry roads.

Just two years after a total redesign, the ground-breaking second-generation Infiniti G Sedan takes another leap forward for the 2009 model year with the addition of a new, larger 328-horsepower 3.7-liter VVEL V6 and 7-speed automatic transmission (as appropriate for a cutting-edge performance sports sedan, it is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission).

Now designated as the Infiniti G37 Sedan, other enhancements for 2009 include new available sport brakes with 4-piston front/2-piston rear calipers and large 14-inch front and 13.8-inch rear rotors (G37S Sport 6MT, G37S Journey with Sport Package); new 18-inch wheels (G37S Sport 6MT, G37x with Sport Package, G37S Journey with Sport Package); standard Scratch Shield paint (self-healing clearcoat paint finish) and two new exterior colors – Sahara Sandstone and Moonlight White; and revised interior trim, including softer touch lower door panels, brighter “Washi” aluminum trim color and a redesigned (dial type) seat heater switch.

The 2009 G37 Sedan is available in four models – G37 Sedan, G37 Sedan Journey, G37S Sedan Sport 6MT and G37x Sedan AWD.

“The new G37 Sedan is the perfect stable-mate in the Infiniti lineup to the 2009 G37 Coupe, offering buyers groundbreaking style, performance and soul in a choice of two or four doors,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “The enhancements for 2009 are significant and should help keep the G Sedan at the head of the performance sport sedan pack.”

The G37 Sedan’s strikingly seductive exterior continues to be defined by its sleek wave form hood, signature G-style taillights and raked A-pillars and athletic stance – along with new, smaller outside mirrors adopted from the G37 Coupe. Inside, the G37 Sedan offers a crafted, heritage-inspired interior environment and luxury features such as standard leather-appointed seating and an audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels? by Bose?, which combines Bose’s first 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with a head unit incorporating double oversampling 24-bit Burr Brown® Digital Audio Converters.

The G37 Sedan’s new engine combines with the second-generation FM (Front Mid-ship) platform – featuring a 4-wheel independent suspension with lightweight aluminum components – to provide responsive acceleration and agile handling. The G37x AWD adds Infiniti’s “intelligent” ATTESA E-TS™ all-wheel drive system.

Advanced technologies include standard Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and available RearView Monitor; a touch screen Infiniti Navigation System with XM NavTraffic® Real-Time Traffic Information (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and 9.3GB Music Hard Drive; Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS); and Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking.

Sporty, Sensual Styling

The 2009 G37 Sedan is visually striking, sharing a strong resemblance to the sporty G37 Coupe. Like the G Coupe, the Sedan features a long, wave-like hood, raked A-pillars and athletic stance – projecting a balance of power and grace that is suggestive of the performance potential within. The front of the G Sedan is highlighted by its L-shaped headlights and dramatic Infiniti signature grille with sculpted “twisted” horizontal blades inspired by traditional Japanese swords. High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights with fog lights are standard, while an Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), which automatically controls the headlight lighting pattern according to steering angle and vehicle speed to help provide better visibility at night, is optional.

The G37 Sport 6MT and Sport Package-equipped G37 Journey and G37x AWD models offer a unique front fascia and side sills, as well as 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and tires. A full rear spoiler is also available.

A Crafted Interior Environment

The 2009 G37 Sedan’s interior has been treated to subtle enhancements to provide an even higher quality feel, including “softer touch” materials on the lower door areas, a brighter color to the unique “Washi”-style textured aluminum trim (now matching the G37 Coupe) and such attention to detail as redesigning the seat heater switches. Unchanged is the G’s harmony between the dedicated driver’s cockpit and comfortable passenger space – and between modern technology and traditional Japanese design cues. The result is a “modern warmth” that is unique in the sport sedan segment.

“Traditionally, there have been two schools of thought in sport sedan interiors – cold, machine-like precision or soft, indulgent luxury,” said Poore. “In the G Sedan we’ve found a way to thoroughly engage the driver, while embracing passengers with finely crafted hospitality.”

The driver’s area has a simple, intuitive layout with easy-to-read electroluminescent gauges with white-and-violet instrumentation. A center information display, located between the tachometer and speedometer, conveys updates from the drive computer (average fuel consumption, instantaneous fuel economy, average speed, elapsed time, running distance, distance to empty, outside air temperature, warning displays, odometer and automatic transmission shift indicator). The G’s steering wheel is double-stitched by hand – a process that takes more than an hour to complete. The benefit is significant, allowing the stitches to be moved away from where the driver’s hands rest for a smoother, improved feel.

Another unique feature of the G Sedan is its available 10-speaker Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® Premium Audio System, combining a 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with an audiophile-quality head unit incorporating double oversampling 24-bit 96KHz Burr Brown® Digital Audio Converters.

The G’s optional touch screen Infiniti Navigation System features available XM NavTraffic® with real-time traffic information and a 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive. Other technologies include standard Infiniti Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, standard 7.0-inch color monitor display, available Infiniti Interface System for iPod® and Driver’s Audio Stage, standard XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately), available RearView Monitor and Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System.

All 2009 G37s come equipped with standard leather-appointed seating in a choice of Wheat (except Sport-equipped vehicles), Stone or Graphite. Along with the standard Washi-style aluminum trim, premium genuine wood (straight-grained African Rosewood) accents (center console, instrument panel and doors) are optionally available. New for 2009, wood trim can be added to Sport Package-equipped G37 Journey models.

A New 328-Horsepower V6

While the G Sedan has been known since inception for its exhilarating, balanced dynamic performance, for 2009 it receives an injection of pure power with the addition of a new 3.7-liter V6. Based on the award-winning VQ-series V6, which has been named one of the “Ten Best Engines” by Ward’s Auto World magazine for 14 consecutive years, the new VQ37HR “VVEL” engine is rated at 328 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque (increases of 22 horsepower and 1 lb-ft of torque over the 2008 G35 Sedan’s 3.5-liter V6).

The G37 Coupe’s VVEL system combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response. The VVEL system also offers improved emissions and fuel efficiency over the previous 3.5-liter V6 design. The VVEL intake camshafts, featuring continuously variable lift control teamed with the Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS), allow for a 7,600 rpm redline.

The engine also features increased cylinder block height (from the previous 3.5-liter design), ladder frame construction for greater rigidity, large crank journal and pin diameters, asymmetric piston skirts, twin knock sensors, an electronically controlled “drive-by-wire” throttle system, molybdenum coated lightweight pistons, Iridium spark plugs and a symmetric twin air intake system. The specially tuned dual exhaust system features equal length exhaust manifolds and low muffler exhaust backpressure to help improve engine breathing. Both intake and exhaust enhance driving pleasure with their authentic performance notes.

To help take full advantage of the new 3.7-liter V6, the G37 Sedan now comes with a standard (except for the G37S Sport 6MT model) 7-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching, Drive Sport mode and ASC (Adaptive Shift Control) that allows for sportier shifts in performance driving situations. Solid magnesium paddle shifters are offered as part of the Sport Package for G37 Journey and G37x AWD models. The G37S Sport 6MT is again offered with a smooth-shifting, close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.

“It is important to us to offer the G Sedan with a choice of transmissions – the 6-speed manual for the pure sports enthusiasts and our new 7-speed automatic that, especially when combined with the available steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, provides nearly the same high level of driver control,” said Poore.

Despite the more powerful engine, fuel economy has been improved by 1 mpg City and 2 mpg Highway with the 7-speed automatic transmission (18 mpg City/26 mpg Highway RWD; 18 mpg City/25 mpg Highway AWD). Fuel economy remains the same with the 6-speed manual transmission as the previous year at 17 mpg City and 25 mpg Highway.

Along with the 3.7-liter engine, the G37 Sedan also shares the G37 Coupe’s advanced second-generation FM platform, which locates the engine behind the front axle in the “Front Mid-ship” position.

Infiniti G37 Sport 6MT and Sport Package-equipped RWD models offer an optional Four-Wheel Active Steer system, which helps improve vehicle handling performance by varying the front steering ratio and adjusting the geometry of the rear suspension according to steering input and vehicle speed.

The 2009 G37 Sedan is also offered with a state-of-the-art “intelligent” all-wheel drive system. The G37x AWD model features Infiniti’s ATTESA E-TS® (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system, which is also utilized on the G37x AWD Coupe, M35x, M45x, EX35 AWD and FX35/FX50 AWD models. The system utilizes an active torque distribution management system with an active center clutch designed for smooth starts and better traction and maneuverability on snowy roads than conventional all-wheel drive systems, plus minimal compromise of rear-wheel drive performance characteristics on dry roads.

All 2009 G37s, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, come with standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), helping to enhance vehicle stability under a variety of driving conditions, while Viscous Limited Slip Differential (VLSD) is included on RWD G37 Sport Package-equipped vehicles. VSLD is standard on the G37S Sport 6MT.

The G’s brake system utilizes power-assisted 4-wheel vented disc brakes with 4-channel, 4-sensor Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). New, larger brakes with 4-piston front/2-piston rear calipers are standard on the G37 Journey with Sport Package and G37S Sport 6MT. Also available is a Preview Braking system (with Intelligent Cruise Control).

The power steering system is a vehicle-speed-sensing design, which provides optimum steering effort at both high and low vehicle speeds.

The 2009 G37 features standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with P225/55R17 tires, and new 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and 225/50R18 front and P245/45R18 rear W-rated tires on the G35 Sport 6MT and Sport Package-equipped G37 Journey models. An 18-inch Wheel and Tire Package with P225/50R18 tires is available on the G37 Journey (non-Sport Package) and G37x AWD (as part of the Sport Package). A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is standard on all 2009 G37 Sedans.

All 2009 G37 Sedans come equipped with Infiniti’s Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors is standard, along with roof-mounted side impact supplemental air bags for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection and roof-mounted side impact supplemental air bags for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection. Also standard are 3-point ALR/ELR seat belts (driver’s side ELR only) and front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters and adjustable upper anchors, front seat Active Head Restraints and the LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren). Brake-Operated Pre-Crash Seat Belts are available as part of the Technology Package. The G37 Sedan also features Zone Body Construction with front and rear crushable zones to help disperse crash energy around the passenger compartment.

Four Well-Equipped Models

The 2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan is available in four models – G37, G37 Journey, G37x AWD and G37 Sport 6MT. In addition to the long list of standard and available equipment on the G37, G37 Journey and G37x AWD models, G35 Sport 6MT models (as well as G37 Journey and G37x models equipped with the Sport Package) add drilled aluminum pedals, sport seats with thigh extensions and driver’s power bolster adjustments, upgraded brakes (not available on G37x) and Viscous Limited Slip Differential, along with magnesium paddle shifters on automatic transmission models.

The 2009 Infiniti EX35 is one of those rare vehicles that is both exception and exceptional. Like its legendary stablemate, the dramatic Infiniti FX, the EX combines an inspiring blend of style and performance, power and fuel efficiency, refinement and aggressiveness, intimacy and exhibitionism. It is a luxury crossover that is uniquely personal, yet turns heads when unleashed among the tide of less refined and less innovative competitors. The EX is rewarding and reinvigorating – and refined for the new model year with additional standard equipment and revised optional package content.

“The EX perfectly expresses the Infiniti philosophy of ‘Inspired Performance’ with its sports coupe style and sedan/SUV convenience,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “For example, its 297-horsepower V6 offers more power than its closest competitors, along with better fuel economy. And with the revised content for 2009, EX is even stronger this year than last – which, among other accolades, saw it named the ‘Highest Rated Premium Vehicle in Initial Quality’* by J.D. Power and Associates.”

For 2009, the second year of EX production, the EX35 Base model now features standard leather-appointed seating, RearView Monitor, rear HVAC vents and polished aluminum roof rails. The EX35 Journey model adds a standard 6-disc CD autochanger, power tilt/telescoping steering column, coat hanger on the driver’s headrest and Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control.

New or revised packages include an Around View Monitor (AVM) Package, which utilizes four small front, side and rear-mounted cameras to give the driver a “top-down view” of the outside of the vehicle and help reduce blind spots when parking.

Other available packages include the Technology Package, with an advanced Lane Departure Prevention system (LDP), Intelligent Cruise Control (Full Speed Range), Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning; a Premium Package; a Bose® & Navigation Package; and an 18-inch Wheel Package.

Coupe-Inspired Exterior, Elegant Interior

The EX35’s layout combines the look and feel of a luxury coupe and an SUV’s flexibility. Its sporty proportions, including a long hood, short front and rear overhangs, rearward cabin and smooth coupe-like roofline, gives the EX excellent around town maneuverability – while the wide rear hatch and low load floor make it a versatile performer for everyday and weekend use.

EX’s exterior includes many signature Infiniti touches, including a double-arch grille, large L-shaped headlights with available xenon headlights with Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), integrated fog lights, distinctive LED taillights and “dynamic arch” profile. Other exterior features include a high-mounted rear hatchback spoiler, chrome-finished dual exhaust tips, an available power tilt/sliding moonroof with one-touch activation and standard roof rails. EX35 also features a standard puddle lamp integrated in the driver’s side-view mirror as part of the hospitality lighting concept.

Eight exterior colors are offered: Moonlight White, Liquid Platinum, Platinum Graphite, Black Obsidian, Scarlet Silver, Tidewater, Blue Slate and Dark Currant – each incorporating Scratch Shield, a special “self-healing” clearcoat paint, which is designed to maintain its gloss-level over time.

Like all Infiniti vehicles, the EX was conceived to offer a reinvigorating and engaging interior environment, one that is both indulgent and inspiring. The driver-focused “wave-inspired” cabin layout features an Infiniti signature “double-wave” instrument panel, easy-to-read high-contrast gauges with white-and-violet illumination and hospitality lighting with a pin LED light mounted over the center console and Infiniti-signature analog clock.

The instrument panel also features a 7-inch color display with Infiniti controller for the trip computer and additional vehicle information, including the available Infiniti Hard Disk based Navigation System with 9.3GB Music Box hard drive for music storage and playback. Other technology systems include an available Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System, standard Infiniti Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately).

The EX interior is offered with standard leather-appointed seating surfaces, available in four colors – Graphite, Stone, Wheat and Chestnut. The EX Base models features aluminum trim, while EX Journey models offer aluminum trim. There is also a leather and aluminum shift knob, and leather-wrapped steering wheel with controls for audio and cruise control. An 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way manual lumbar support and a 4-way power passenger’s seat are standard. A driver’s seat memory system is also offered, along with available heated front seats and 8-way power front passenger’s seat. Also available is a 60/40 split power-folding 2nd row seat (operated from the front or the hatch area).

The EX’s available Bose® Premium Audio System includes a Burr-Brown 24-bit DAC, 11 speakers (including 2 subwoofers), AM/FM/CD in-dash changer and Interface System for iPod®. The advanced Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, included with the Bose® audio system as part of the Bose® & Navigation Package, features Voice Recognition (VR) for HVAC, audio and navigation and XM NavTraffic® with Real-Time Traffic Information (XM® subscription required, sold separately).

Advanced Platform and Powertrain

\Under the EX35’s dramatic body is an equally advanced platform and powertrain based on the latest Infiniti performance technology. Its FM platform provides the same high levels of handling precision and balance as it does for the Infiniti M, FX and G Coupe and Sedan.

Every 2009 Infiniti EX35 comes standard with a fourth-generation VQ35HR 3.5-liter V6 engine, rated at 297 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, DS sport mode with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM), and Adaptive Shift Control.

EX fuel economy is rated at 17 mpg City/24 mpg Highway for the rear-wheel drive models and 16 mpg City/23 mpg Highway for EX all-wheel drive models.

Superb handling is provided by a subframe-mounted independent front double-wishbone suspension with aluminum-alloy upper and lower links, high-performance dual-flow pass shock absorbers and stabilizer bar. The rear suspension is an independent multi-link design with aluminum-alloy upper and lower links and axle housing, high-performance dual-flow pass shock absorbers and stabilizer bar.

Steering and braking systems include vehicle speed-sensitive power-assisted steering and power-assisted front and rear discs (vented front) and standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). Also standard is Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS), while an advanced Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range) with Preview Braking is optionally available.

Available wheel and tire combinations include standard 17-inch 8-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/60R17 all-season tires or optional 18-inch 8-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/55R18 all-season tires.

The 2009 EX is also offered with an intelligent all-wheel drive system. EX35 AWD models feature Infiniti’s ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system, which is also utilized on the Infiniti M, FX and G. The system utilizes an active torque distribution management system with an active center clutch designed for smooth starts and better traction and maneuverability on snowy roads than conventional all-wheel drive systems, plus minimal compromise of rear-wheel drive performance characteristics on dry roads.

Standard EX35 safety equipment includes the Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification system; driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags; roof-mounted curtain side-impact and rollover supplemental air bags for front and rear seat outboard occupant head protection; and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Also standard are 3-point ALR/ELR seat belts (driver’s side ELR only) and front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters and adjustable upper anchors, front seat Active Head Restraints and the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system for the rear outboard seating positions. The 2009 EX also features advanced Zone Body Construction with front and rear crushable zones to help disperse crash energy around the passenger compartment.

Models and Packages

The 2009 Infiniti EX35 is available in four models: EX35 RWD, EX35 AWD, EX35 RWD Journey and EX35 AWD Journey. EX35 Journey models include power slide/tilt moonroof with one-touch activation, auto-dimming inside mirror with electronic compass, auto on/off headlights, 6CD autochanger, power tilt/telescoping steering column, heated front seats, coat hanger on headrest, Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC), heated outside mirrors and wood interior trim.

EX Journey models are also available with a Premium Package, which adds a memory and position synchronization system for the driver’s seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors; 8-way power front passenger’s seat; 2-way driver’s seat power lumbar support; xenon headlights with AFS, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver; premium stitching on the meter hood; and power remote rear seat.

“The Infiniti EX is an extraordinary vehicle, providing a personal reward for those who drive and own it,” said Poore. “With power and agility available on demand, it’s a perfect fit for buyers looking to add a little excitement in their everyday lives.”

The essence of the Infiniti brand distilled into one car and then taken to the extremes to satisfy the world’s most demanding car enthusiasts – this is the Infiniti Essence. Presented as a concept at the 79th International Motor Show of Geneva, Essence is a celebration of Infiniti and its 20 years history as a creator of performance cars. But equally it is an inspiring exploration into the brand’s future. The dramatic design, technology and performance statement is a 592-horsepower, rear-wheel-drive gasoline/electric hybrid coupe.

The Essence Concept showcases many of the technologies, including hybrid, and design cues that will distinguish Infiniti production cars of the coming years. And, by steering Infiniti’s guiding principle of “Inspired Performance” into the luxury super-coupe market for the first time, it reaffirms Infiniti’s place among the world’s most exclusive and vibrant car brands.

Essence Overview

A front-engined, two-seat, 592-horsepower, rear-wheel drive luxury coupe concept measuring 185 inches long

A preview of Infiniti’s gasoline/electric hybrid drivetrain – capable of high speeds when conditions allow, zero emissions where they don’t

Fresh design language to influence future production models

New safety technology, including Back-up Collision Prevention

Minimalist and intensely driver-focused interior

New luxury” meets traditional Japanese craftsmanship

Louis Vuitton fitted luggage to maximize trans-continental capability

Essence Exterior Design: “Dynamic Adeyaka”

With breathtaking good looks and perfect proportions, Essence exerts a powerful pull on all those who love cars. It looks like a driver’s car, one that would be right at home on the world’s grandest motoring routes, yet Essence is not an aggressive sports car.

Infiniti’s “Dynamic Adeyaka” attitude ensures Essence is single-minded, but also inviting, sophisticated and born of inspiration from both the human and natural worlds. To further boost its emotional appeal, it features details that bring a very modern take to some very old Japanese traditions. The designers’ aim was to merge all existing Infiniti design cues with fresh design language in a shape that the 20-year-old marque has never before attempted. The result is highly sculptural yet also very delicate. Essence speaks of power but not intimidation.

The hood, as expected of an Infiniti, is long and the rear deck short. Together with a flowing “wave” profile between muscular front and rear wheel arches, Essence at first appears to be in the classic sports car mold – but there is nothing retro about Essence. The side window graphics bring a particularly innovative and distinctive edge to the styling. The window appears to be resting on a ledge, its razor sharp line in contrast to the concave sweep of the upper body just below it. The rear section also features complex surfacing with concave “scoops” that flow down the rear pillars from one of Essence’s most distinctive design cues: a C-shaped kink to the side windows’ trailing edge. Outlined by a wide flourish of stainless steel, it adds instant movement to the car even when it is standing still.

One of the most distinctive details is the trim around the side air vents. The simple yet delicate shape, finely finished in aluminium, is based on the “kanzash,” a hairpin used by women when wearing the kimono. Other lines and details are inspired by the wide brush strokes of Japanese calligraphy. Essence represents a successful merging of iconic cultural cues with automotive aesthetics.

Essence’s front is characterised by Infiniti’s signature double-arch grille, set at an angle that suggests the car is about to leap forward. There is an illuminated Infiniti badge at its heart. Rounded corners effectively hide the front overhang and make this 185-inch-long car (15.4 feet) appear anything but big in the flesh.

At the front, as over the rest of the car, Essence eschews superfluous body embellishments that could interrupt the graceful strength of the whole. The grille is framed by subtle strips of stainless steel but there’s little other trim and no other grilles or intakes, not even fog lights. The door handles are slivers of push buttons flush with the body, while even the rearview mirrors must make way for minuscule cameras teased out of the A-pillars. More familiar Infiniti cues include the lights. At the front, the signature L-shaped modules taper back on to the bulging guards, picked out at their top edge by a row of LEDs. Slender fillets of red light curve around the car at the back, overlapping with the trunk opening and framing the spoiler, which appears to have been pushed out from within the car.

Essence Interior Design: Driver-Focused

A driver’s car demands the perfect driver’s cabin. Essence’s interior is minimalist, ergonomic and totally focused on giving the driver a feeling of absolute control – while the passenger area is dominated by comfort, calm and elegance to offer the kind of hospitality that is so important to Essence. The asymmetrical cabin is divided into two areas separated by a large curving console between the seats that sweeps around to merge with the center of the dashboard. The driver’s side is themed black, the passenger’s “cocoon” an earthy red.

A flat-bottomed steering wheel, chronometer-style dials, bright red engine start button, and short, alloy-topped gear selector announce to the driver this is a serious performance machine. Other interior features include larger gear change paddle shifters behind the wheel and a signature Infiniti analog clock. With the materials used – leather, Alcantara, hand-painted wood inspired by traditional Japanese lacquerware – the cabin exudes a rich and inviting warmth. Essence’s interior promotes a sense of well being which is key to the Infiniti driving experience.

Essence Drivetrain: Power With Responsibility

Essence’s drivetrain is designed to meet the highest expectations of owners by delivering the one thing everyone expects of an Infiniti – sheer driving pleasure. In Essence, that pleasure is taken to new heights, at the same time as previewing an innovative green hybrid engine. Essence is unusual even in the rarefied atmosphere of the world’s fastest road cars by being able to call on a mighty 592 horsepower.

Like the design, the performance is designed to be sophisticated and unobtrusive – performance with a human touch. The hybrid system is a logical extension of Infiniti parent group’s groundbreaking green commitments. It offers power with efficiency, and high performance with zero-emissions running, by combining a gasoline engine with an electric motor. These can work independently or together as a “parallel” hybrid system. In congested urban areas, the electric motor alone is all that is needed for Essence to glide silently between stoplights, with no tailpipe emissions. When the traffic clears, Essence responds with a highway performance that few cars could match. In “power assist” mode the full 592 horsepower is unleashed with both gasoline and electric power working together.

A key difference over some other hybrid systems is that both the V6 and the electric motor feed their power only to the rear wheels. Infiniti’s 3.7-liter DOHC V6 gasoline engine is fitted with twin turbochargers and a new, efficient direct-injection fuel system, boosting power to 434 horsepower.

Essence previews a new type of electric motor, called 3D Motor, that was designed to meet tough requirements on size and power output. The result is a particularly slim, disk-shaped motor that has twice the torque of a conventional unit. Its design was achieved by 3D magnetic field analysis to optimize the layout of the electromagnetic coils and permanent magnets. For use in the Essence, the motor is positioned between the engine and transmission and provides 158 horsepower, drawing power from a compact lithium-ion battery pack in the trunk area. Because the 3D Motor operates in both propulsion and power regeneration modes, the battery pack is kept charged up.

Optimized energy usage across the widest possible range of driving conditions is guaranteed by two separate clutches, which “switch in” the motors as required. It is a system that needs no torque converter, further enhancing responsiveness and driving pleasure.

Essence Safety: A Collision-Free Future

On a global level, Infiniti is committed to building safer vehicles equipped with advanced safety technologies. Essence previews some of the next-generation safety features that will ensure Infiniti cars remain among the safest on the road, adding two new technologies to the Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems that are available in today’s production Infinitis. Side Collision Prevention (SCP) and Back-up Collision Prevention (BCP) extend the anti-collision shield all the way around the car.

With SCP, when the driver decides to change lanes, side-mounted sensors activate a warning if an approaching vehicle is detected in the driver’s intended lane. A yaw mechanism is then activated through brake control of individual wheels to help prevent a potential collision. Back-up Collision Prevention works in a similar way, sensing a vehicle behind, giving the driver a warning but then, if the warning is not heeded, activating the brakes automatically. The warning system and pre-emptive safety features are designed to help support the driver in an intuitive manner with minimal intervention.

Essence Practicality: A Very Specially Made Solution

The team behind Essence harked back to an early motoring era to find the right solution for carrying luggage. The result is as classy as luggage ever gets, surprisingly practical and dreamily romantic. It also re-establishes the historic ties between a carmaker and one of the best-known names in luxury goods – Louis Vuitton. Vuitton first worked with a coachbuilder – the famous Kellner Company – in 1908, equipping one of their early luxury limousines with a set of bespoke luggage. Other coachbuilders quickly beat a path to Vuitton’s door in Paris. Made-to-measure Vuitton trunks were an integral feature of some of the greatest cars of the first part of the 20th century.

The collaboration between Infiniti and Vuitton revives the idea of a set of the highest quality luggage made to fit exactly a car’s trunk area. In Essence, there are three rigid pieces: a matched pair of slender briefcases atop a large trunk. All are made in the new Damier Graphite canvas and feature sleekly integrated handles and an overall design in harmony with the car itself. In addition, a button on the key fob electrically opens the trunk lid, allowing the trunk floor to slide silently rearwards.

The 2008 model marks the first major revision of the Infiniti QX56 full-size luxury SUV, which burst onto the luxury SUV scene in 2004 with a number of class-leading standard features. The QX56 continues to set the standard for luxury, performance and technology. Voted as top in its class in the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, the QX56 is enhanced for the 2008 model year with a revised exterior and interior, and new technical features.

The QX56 maintains its class-leading 2nd row roominess, go-anywhere ruggedness and the abundant power and up to 9,000-pound towing capability (when properly equipped) of the standard 320-horsepower DOHC 5.6-liter V8 engine. The 2008 QX56 is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in spring 2007.

The major exterior enhancements to the QX56 include new front and rear fascias, new front fog lights, new roof rack, standard 20x8J chromed aluminum-alloy wheels and heavy-duty P275/60R20 Michelin tires, and new exterior colors – Lakeshore Slate and Serengeti Sand.

Inside, comfort and convenience is enhanced with a new 3rd-row power folding seat, standard heated steering wheel on 4WD, and new interior colors. Trim and wood designs add a rich aspect to the interior, while the standard Burr-Brown? audio system with 9.5-gigabyte Music Box hard drive and compact flash slot for playing MP3 files, Infiniti Navigation system and standard Intelligent Key add a technological twist.

Also available is an Infiniti Mobile Entertainment System with a larger screen (8.0 inches versus the previous 7.0), and an XM® NavTraffic™ system with real-time traffic information (requires active XM® satellite radio subscription) – which ensure that drivers and passengers get to their destination quickly and safely.

"The original QX56 has been an owner favorite, and for 2008, the new QX56 takes the qualities that make it a top SUV even further, with more style, more features and more luxury," said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division. "We think of the QX56 as ‘an executive suite on wheels,’ and the new model, with its technological refinement and class-leading attributes, certainly fits the bill."

A New Luxury Look

The new QX56 is immediately recognizable with its new smooth, powerful and refined exterior styling, which is a presence befitting its top-luxury status.

In the front, the distinctive “waterfall” grille is surrounded by a new front full-body type fascia with revised front fog lights. Standard jewel-like Xenon headlights illuminate the road ahead, while the large hood hints at the powerful V8 located beneath. Also new for 2008 are standard 20-inch chromed aluminum-alloy wheels and P275/60R20 tires, outlined by chrome wheel lip moldings and standard integrated side body cladding for a classy and imposing stance. A new, smooth, one-piece roof rack provides additional utility.

At the rear of the vehicle, a new body-color fascia enhances the unique taillight design, further providing visual distinction from the competition. A power liftgate with opening rear glass is standard, and pre-wiring and trailer hitch for towing is available. Two new exterior body colors are offered for 2008, Lakeshore Slate and Serengeti Sand.

Standard exterior features include dual power adjustable folding heated sideview mirrors with auto-dim, memory, puddle lamps and integrated turn signals; privacy glass for the liftgate, 2nd and 3rd rows; power flip-out rear quarter windows; and running boards.

Standard front and rear sonar sensors work along with the RearView Monitor system, which utilizes a small CCD camera discretely located in the rear license plate finisher to provide a view (projected on the QX56’s standard navigation system LCD monitor) of what is behind the vehicle.

Revised, Feature-Laden Interior

Infiniti engineers have refined the 2008 QX56’s interior to rival the best SUV and luxury car interiors on the market, utilizing authentic materials such as wood, aluminum, stainless steel, Sojourner® leather-appointed seating surfaces and thick (16-oz.) Tuscano carpeting. Along with the new features and enhancements, the QX56 interior boasts class-leading 2nd-row legroom (41.9 inches) and a new flat-folding power 60/40 split 3rd row seat.

New interior features for 2008 include illuminated steering wheel controls, welcome meter illumination, a large lockable glove compartment, a revised gated shifter for the standard 5-speed automatic transmission, standard heated steering wheel on 4WD model, and more luxurious interior materials, including a cloth-wrapped A-pillar. New designs and colors abound in the interior, including new Fine Vision Meters, a new “Stone” interior color and new wood grain real wood interior trim.

Technological improvements to the interior include standard Intelligent Key and a new Burr-Brown? audio system with 9.5-gigabyte Music Box hard drive. The system also includes dual media capability, allowing radio and CD use simultaneously (with 2nd-row headphone usage), AM/FM/CD, steering wheel-mounted controls and compact flash slot for playing MP3 files.

New optional features include an XM® NavTraffic™ system with real-time traffic information for the standard Infiniti Navigation System. The system displays current traffic conditions in color-coded images overlaid on the navigation system map (requires active XM® satellite radio subscription).

A revised Infiniti Mobile Entertainment System with a larger flip-down console-mounted 8-inch monitor, as well as two wireless headphones and remote controller, is also offered.

All of these enhancements add to the already high-standard luxury feature interior, which provides standard seating for seven passengers, with available second-row bench seating making room for eight.

A modern instrument cluster with Fine Vision Meters provides clear information to the driver and the signature Infiniti analog clock, dual-zone electronically controlled climate control and rear air conditioning with dual controls (front and rear), rear heater duct, and a standard Infiniti Navigation System (hard drive-based) with 7.0-inch LCD screen round out a truly luxurious interior. Comfort is aided by 10-way driver’s/8-way front passenger’s heated power adjustable seats. The driver position is optimized through a standard adjustable brake and accelerator pedals with transmission interlock and memory function, part of the Auto Drive Positioner memory system that includes memory for pedals, sideview mirrors and driver's seat. Also standard is a Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System.

The standard seating configuration includes fold-flat 2nd row captain’s chairs with integrated armrests and a removable 2nd row center console. A fold-flat 2nd row bench seat is also available, providing 8-passenger seating. The 3rd row seating area is elevated to provide a commanding forward view and features standard roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags for side-impact and rollover protection and now receives its own audio speakers and amplifier.

Storage space is plentiful in the 2008 QX56 with full-length overhead storage configuration, a front overhead console with compass and HomeLink® Universal Transceiver features, front center console with large storage capacity and power outlets, side storage bins and a maximum of 14 cup holders.

Cargo capacity, with the 2nd row and new-for-2008 power 3rd row seats folded down flat, measures 97.1 cubic feet.

With the front passenger seat in the folded down position, it is possible to carry long items, such as lumber or surfboards, with the rear liftgate closed. For easier package handling, the 2008 QX56 includes rear area ceiling/floor-mounted cargo tie-down points and cargo net.

Powerful Performance and Exceptional Utility

Infiniti engineers sought to combine the best attributes of a luxury car-like ride with exceptional cargo and passenger carrying utility. The 2008 QX56 comes standard with a 5.6-liter DOHC V8, producing 320 horsepower at 5,200 RPM and 393 lb-ft of torque at 3,400 RPM. For hauling, towing or serious off-road driving, nearly 90 percent of the engine's torque has been made available below 2,500 rpm.

Assembled at Nissan's advanced engine facility in Decherd, Tenn., the QX56's V8 incorporates advanced design features, such as an aluminum block with cast iron cylinder liners, forged steel crankshaft, microfinished crankshaft and camshafts, molybdenum-coated pistons, 6-bolt main bearing caps, heavy duty cooling system, single-stage timing chain and, for precise control, an electronic "drive-by-wire" throttle.

An enhanced 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission is also standard, and this unique component is reinforced for the high-torque application and features unique gearing and transmission management through a variable lock-up torque converter and electronic controls for improved shifting and fuel economy.

A special tow/haul mode revises shift patterns when engaged, and enables the QX56, when properly equipped, to maintain a maximum towing capacity of 9,000 pounds for two-wheel drive and 8,900 pounds for four-wheel drive (when properly equipped).

Two drive configurations are available in the 2008 QX56, two-wheel drive (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) featuring the Infiniti All-Mode 4WD system with 2WD/4HI/4LO modes and an electronically controlled part-time transfer case with low gear.

The QX56's All-Mode 4WD system is designed to instantly distribute torque to all four wheels whenever road conditions warrant (up to 50 percent can go to the front wheels on demand), resulting in optimal traction.

A switch on the dashboard controls the two-speed electronic transfer case, allowing easy selection between auto, full-time four-wheel drive and 4LO.

For stability, the 2008 QX56 is built on the proven fully boxed high-strength steel F-Alpha frame. Rugged Dana front and rear axles provide the strength to handle on- and off-road challenges, and a comfortable ride is provided by a 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars. For additional undercarriage protection, all 4WD QX56s include heavy-duty skid plates for the oil pan, fuel tank and transfer case.

Providing substantial steering and braking control is engine-speed-sensitive power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, 4-wheel disc brakes with Bosch Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), and for additional stability, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Active Brake Limited-Slip (ABLS) is standard on every QX56, as is an advanced auto-leveling rear air suspension. The air suspension also maintains uniform ground clearance and departure angle, even when towing or carrying cargo, by automatically adjusting the air pressure in the system's air bladders.

The 2008 QX56 also features new-design standard 20x8J chromed aluminum-alloy wheels and heavy-duty P275/60R20 Michelin tires. A four-wheel independent monitoring Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) is standard, with a gauge-cluster mounted warning lamp and display.

Optional on QX56 is Infiniti's advanced Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), which, using a combination of laser sensors, throttle and brake actuators and the QX56’s braking system, measures the distance to the vehicle ahead via a laser signal, which automatically adjusts the QX56’s speed to maintain a pre-selected following distance.

NOTE: The ICC system is not intended for congested areas or city driving and will not brake the vehicle to a complete stop.

Comprehensive Safety Technology

All 2008 QX56s offer an extensive list of standard safety features, including an Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors and a front passenger occupant classification sensor, front seat Active Head Restraints, roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags for side-impact and rollover protection for all three rows, front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags, 3-point front seat belts with dual pretensioners and load limiters, 3-point seat belts for all rear seat occupants (including center position) and LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) child seat anchor system.

The 2008 Infiniti FX continues its leadership position in the premium crossover SUV class with sports car-inspired performance and style and a long list of available technology features, including Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Brake Assist with Preview Braking, RearView Monitor and Infiniti Intelligent Key. For 2008, FX adds XMâ satellite radio as standard equipment on all models, along with revised interior/exterior color combination availability.

Originally introduced in 2003, the FX has offered luxury SUV buyers an attractive, versatile crossover vehicle with exceptional utility, performance, style, safety and luxury. Since its major revision in model year 2006, Infiniti continues to evolve FX’s standard and optional equipment offerings to become a showcase for Infiniti technology and attention to customer needs.

For 2008, FX is again offered in three fully equipped models: the 275-horsepower 3.5-liter V6-equipped FX35 in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations; and 320-horsepower 4.5-liter V8-equipped FX45 with standard intelligent ATTESA E-TSÔ all-wheel drive, a sport-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension and 20-inch wheels and tires. The 2008 Infiniti FX arrives in Infiniti dealer showrooms in summer 2007.

Performance–Inspired Styling and Platform

Again in 2008, the FX exterior blends the substantial lower body of an SUV with the sleek, elegant upper body reminiscent of a sports GT. It features a wide, aggressive stance with a long, sleek hood, sleek roof and a "taut canopy" greenhouse. FX’s short front and rear overhangs provide SUV-like approach and departure angles, while also helping accentuate the long wheelbase, wide track and large tires (18-inch standard on FX35, 20-inch standard on FX45).

The wide yet narrow headlights and taillights give the FX an "in-motion" look, with the taillights extending past the body slightly. FX’s distinctive exterior design also includes an Infiniti signature grille, standard fog lights, bi-xenon headlights and large, split dual tailpipes with chrome finishers. Polished aluminum roof rails are standard on FX45, while black roof rails are standard on FX35.

By utilizing a modified version of the advanced FM (Front Mid-ship) platform, Infiniti engineers position the FX’s engine behind the front axle. This results in an optimized front-to-rear weight balance of 52:48 (V6 RWD), which assists weight transfer during key handling maneuvers. The FM platform's rigidity has been enhanced specifically for the FX by increasing plate thickness of the front side members, side sills and rear wheel housing.

The FX's long 112.2-inch wheelbase and wide track (62.7-inches front, 64.6-inches rear) combine with large wheels and tires to provide a stable driving foundation – as well as a large interior for both passengers and cargo.

Two advanced powerplants are available again in 2008, starting with the high-performance power of a 4.5-liter DOHC V8. Also used in the Infiniti M45 sedan, the VK45DE engine has been specially tuned for use in the FX45 and produces 320 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque.

The engine design includes titanium valves, modular cylinder heads, microfinished crankshaft, lightweight pistons, super-silent single stage cam drive chain and a hydraulically driven cooling fan to help optimize performance. In addition, the VK45DE is outfitted with a variable length air induction system and Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) to enhance the engine’s power delivery and operation efficiency.

The FX35, both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive models, come equipped with a standard 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine with aluminum-alloy block and heads and electronically controlled “drive-by-wire” throttle system. The V6 has been tuned specifically for use in the FX35, with a rating of 275 horsepower and 268 lb-ft torque.

A 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, designed for high torque capacity and light weight, is standard with both V8- and V6-equipped models. Activated by the driver, a special Snow-Mode function changes the throttle input algorithm in low-speed slippery road conditions for enhanced traction control.

Infiniti’s advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system with Traction Control System (TCS) is standard on all FX models. VDC adjusts brake pressure and engine torque automatically in understeer, oversteer or slippery road surface situations, helping the driver keep the intended path.

The ATTESA E-TS™ (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system utilized on FX45 and FX35 AWD uses an advanced torque split control strategy that automatically transfers optimum torque to the wheels according to road and driving conditions. The system provides outstanding handling due to optimum torque distribution for front and rear (50:50 up to 0:100). ATTESA E-TS™ also provides high starting traction performance and smooth, stable acceleration, especially in snow-covered or off-road situations with a 50:50 torque split at standing start.

The Infiniti FX's dynamic handling is a result of its advanced 4-wheel independent suspension, which makes extensive use of aluminum-alloy components to reduce unsprung weight. The front suspension is an independent front strut design, while the rear features a multi-link design. Large diameter stabilizer bars are utilized front and rear (front only on FX35 RWD model). The suspension system also incorporates special “High Frequency Control” shock absorber technology with a rebound spring for responsive yet comfortable ride and firm, tight handling.

Standard on FX45 models are unique 8.0JJx20 8-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels and 265/50R20 all-season tires. The FX35 is equipped with high-luster Titanium-painted 8.0JJx18 8-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels and 265/60R18 all-season tires, with sport 20-inch wheels and tires available.

Standard braking system components include 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes, Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD). Responsive steering is provided by an engine-speed-sensitive power rack-and-pinion steering system.

Also available is Infiniti's Intelligent Cruise Control, which uses the brakes, throttle and laser sensors to maintain a set distance between the FX and a vehicle in front of it. The available Preview Braking function is designed to further enhance brake response. The preview function utilizes the ICC system’s sensors to identify sudden braking situations (by sensing the vehicle ahead in the same lane and the distance and relative speed from it) and “pre-pressurizes” the Brake Assist system before the driver steps on the brake pedal.

A Striking, Dynamic Interior Experience

The 2008 FX’s five-passenger interior blends the comfort and amenities of a luxury car with an array of high tech driver and passenger features.

Leather-appointed seating surfaces with driver seat memory and power lumbar, heated front seats and power tilt/telescope steering wheel are standard, along with Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control air conditioning, 7-inch information display color monitor, electroluminescent gauges and a three-spoke, leather-wrapped power tilt/telescope steering wheel with illuminated switches for cruise control and audio systems. Other interior amenities include an Infiniti signature analog clock, driver and passenger one-touch up/down front power windows and power door locks.

Available rear seat passenger features include personal reading lamps, center armrest with tray and storage, dual seatback pockets for storing DVDs and magazines, reclining seats and rear B-pillar mounted air conditioning vents for enhanced cooling performance.

Every FX model also offers exceptional utility, including a large cargo area with easy accessibility, flip-down rear seats with quick-release levers conveniently located in the cargo area, three under-floor storage compartments and a lightweight, steel-reinforced composite rear cargo door with electromagnetic opener switch.

Standard features on FX also include a 300-watt Bose® audio sound system with 6-disc CD autochanger, 11 speakers including two subwoofers, mp3-CD playback and steering wheel audio controls. Additionally, the FX is pre-wired for the optional iPod® accessory cable. Also standard is RearView Monitor, which, when reverse gear is selected, projects a view of what's behind the FX onto the display monitor using a small camera mounted near the rear license plate.

The 2008 FX45 adds standard moonroof, HomeLinkâ Universal Garage Door Opener (UGDO), auto on/off headlamps, Intelligent Key, Bluetoothâ hands-free phone system, wood and aluminum trim, aluminum roof rails and cargo net and cover.

A number of special high tech features are also available, including an advanced DVD-based Infiniti Navigation System and Intelligent Key with keyless entry and push button start (standard on FX45). The available Infiniti Mobile Entertainment System features a DVD player with a 7.0-inch roof-mounted flip-down rear LCD screen.

Advanced Lane Departure Warning System

Again available on the 2008 FX is the Infiniti Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system, which uses an audible signal to warn the driver of a pending, unintended lane departure. The system recognizes lane markings through the use of a small camera mounted in the headliner above the rearview mirror. The camera’s signal and the vehicle’s speed are sent to the system’s advanced microprocessing unit, which combines the information to calculate both the distance between the vehicle, the lane marking and the lateral velocity to the lane marking at speeds above 45 mph. A judgment is then made as to whether the vehicle is moving out of the lane (depending on the distance and lateral velocity to the lane).

The Infiniti LDW system is temporarily disabled by driver activation of the vehicle’s turn signals, which informs the system’s control unit of intended lane changes. The system also features a manual cancel switch, which allows the driver to turn the system off when desired. The system automatically resets when the vehicle is restarted.

Other safety features found on every 2008 FX include a seat belt reminder system, standard Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS), dual-stage front supplemental air bags with passenger seat occupant classification system and seat belt sensor, and roof-mounted side-impact and rollover curtain air bag for enhanced outboard seat occupant head protection.

Also standard are 3-point front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, ALR/ELR seat belts in all passenger seating positions (driver’s side ELR only), adjustable upper anchors and front-seat Active Head Restraints. FX is also equipped with the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system.

The FX's SUV-enhanced FM platform Zone Body Construction is designed to help protect occupants in a collision by helping to absorb crash energy through use of front and rear crushable zones. In a high-speed frontal collision, for example, the crushable zone crumples while the engine is designed to move under the occupant compartment.

This has the effect of expanding the crushable zone, thereby helping to reduce deceleration g-force and simultaneously helping minimize cabin deformation, especially in the lower leg area. In offset impacts, the body construction helps decrease the amount of cabin deformation.

Other FX features that contribute to improved occupant safety include a breakaway brake pedal and double-wall bulkhead construction to help reduce lower leg injuries and a breakaway construction of the propeller shaft (connected with the engine-drop function).

Models and Packages

The fully equipped FX is offered in three engine/drive configurations: the V8-powered AWD FX45, the V6-powered AWD FX35 and the V6-powered rear-wheel drive FX35.

In addition to the long list of equipment on the FX35, the FX45 includes additional standard equipment, including sport suspension tuning, 20-inch tires and unique aluminum-alloy wheels, aluminum roof rails, auto on/off headlights, Bluetoothâ hands-free phone system, moonroof, Intelligent Key, tinted exterior lamp lenses and dark chrome exterior accents, wood and aluminum interior trim, aluminum pedals (accelerator, brake and footrest) and a unique V8 engine cover.

The FX35 Sport Package includes 20-inch wheels with all-season tires, sport-tuned suspension, aluminum pedals and aluminum roof rails, etched aluminum interior trim, tinted headlights and taillights and dark chrome exterior accents.

The Technology Package (available on all models) adds the Infiniti Navigation System, Intelligent Cruise Control with Brake Assist and Preview Braking and the Lane Departure Warning system. Also available on all models is the Infiniti DVD Mobile Entertainment System. Available on FX35 (standard on FX45) is the Hands-Free Package, which includes Bluetoothâ hands-free phone system and Infiniti Intelligent Key. FX35 also offers a Touring Package with moonroof, HomeLink®, auto on/off headlamps and cargo net.

Also available is the Run Flat Tire Package, which replaces the standard tires with run-flat tires, deletes the spare tire for more under cargo area storage, and modifies the suspension tuning to compensate for the different ride characteristics of run-flat tires.
