The Honda CX500 Scrambler “Filthy Cupcake”. A bike that has absolutely no idea what it wants to be. With knobby trail rated tires, that big café style seat and long gas tank, and the front suspension and fender from a GSXR 750 this bike truthfully is a melting pot of machines, and I couldn’t be any happier about it. From every angle this is a bike that just oozes style and creativity with its crazy mixture of motorcycle genres. Creator Cameron Smyth built this for a customer that wanted a little bit of everything, and that’s just what he gave him. This is a city runner, off-road racer, and track-ready monster.

What started off as a somewhat boring and not very well liked design in the CX500 has been upgraded to this dashing yet still delightfully retro creation we have before us. I love the custom-fitted GSXR fender and stone guard. They manage to give the scrambler a modern touch without clashing with the five-decade old design. Smyth also made a good choice leaving the twin springs in the rear to maintain the classic style that this bike needs. But he didn’t just bolt on a headlight and throw some plastic on; Smyth truly has revamped the whole look. With taller handlebars, handmade mud guard, some sweet 17-inch Sun Rims with dirt bike worthy spokes, and the old school one sided license plate bracket. It really is the little things that make a difference.

Smyth didn’t forget about performance either. Along with the GSXR front end, he added dual disc front brakes, and Spiegler brake lines. Not stopping with just suspension and breaks Smyth also replaced the clutch and springs, rebuilt water pump, and added a Murray’s Mikuni carb kit to give a little more pep to the 500cc V-twin.

To sum things up, the “Filthy Cupcake” is a genuine thrill of a build. Any owner would be lucky to have it whether they want to find a trail to thrash or a mountain road to carve. This beautiful little piece of history is sure to turn heads and melt hearts of many.
