General Motors Co. has appointed Greg Martin as executive director for Global Public Policy, The Detroit News reported.

Martin has handled media relations in Washington and Detroit for GM since 2006. He will be responsible for “integrated reputation strategy specifically for corporate social responsibility and related public policy goals. He will undertake a particular focus on staking a leadership position in the areas of sustainability and philanthropy,” The Detroit News reported, citing GM’s internal memo announcing the move.

In addition, General Motors has named Pat Morrissey, currently director of product and brand communications, to oversee the automaker’s corporate media relations and news bureau as director, communications strategy and news relations.
