The world of social networking can be a fertile land for cheap and effective advertising. The automakers of the world have discovered this fact and have all begun massive advertising campaigns in the social media space, and Facebook has become the new battle ground for fan supremacy.

Making a major stride in the Facebook battlefield is Jeep. The subsidiary of Chrysler Group has just crossed over the 2-million fan mark, making it the first domestic automaker to do so. Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC said, “On behalf of the entire Jeep brand team, I would like to extend a personal thank you to our consumers – and literally millions of fans – for their continued loyalty and support.”

The domestic automakers still have lots of room to grow on Facebook, however, as many of the Germans are well ahead of the game with Audi crossing 4.6-million, Mercedes has over 5.5 million and BMW with a massive 8.1-million+ fans and counting.
