For the past twenty years, Peter Horbury has had a professional relationship with Volvo Car Corporation. Starting out as head of design in 1991, Horbury moved around the company’s design firm to eventually take the position as Vice President of Design in 2009. He is responsible for Volvo’s most recent concept, the Concept You as well as many other production models including a few from sister brands Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover. That has all changed however as it was announced recently that Horbury will now be the Senior Vice President of Design for Chinese automaker and Volvo partner, Geely.

“Peter Horbury has played a very important role for Volvo’s design during a long period of time and has a legendary position in the automotive world”, said Stefan Jacoby, President & CEO of Volvo Car Corporation. “I wish him all success in his new role within Geely Group.” As of now, Volvo has yet to find a successor to Horbury. Reviews are currently taking place and the announcement will happen fairly soon. Li Shufu, Chairman of Geely Holding Group and Volvo Car Corporation said, “I am delighted that Peter Horbury has accepted the offer to lead the design development of the Geely Group brands into the future. His vast experience in the industry will be key for the future success of Geely Group’s products.”
