The Cayman GT4 is the fastest and most powerful Cayman to ever come from Porsche, and it looks like there may be a version of the drop-top Boxster coming as well. Hot off the announcement for the Cayman GT4, Porsche revealed the new Boxster Spyder with the same 3.8-liter engine, but it lacked many of the more intense go-faster goodies of the GT4.

That will all change soon according to an article written up by the cool kids over at Autocar UK. They are claiming a “senior source” for the German company has said that with most of the engineering done thanks to the Cayman model, it shouldn’t be hard to make a Boxster version. That means the upgraded brakes and front suspension components from the 911 GT3, plus a hose of new aero features should all be coming to Porsche’s cheapest roadster.

The story also reveals one more magnificent detail. Apparently since demand for the GT4 has been so high, an RS version is now in the cards. Count me in for that one.
