Subaru of America is recalling certain model year Forester, Impreza and Saab branded but Subaru built 9-2X models for suspension related issues. The hanging brackets for the front lower control arms are highly susceptible to corrosion and rust. Over time, these brackets can and will simply break, subsequently breaking the control arm and causing the vehicle to be unable to handle properly. Due to the low tolerance to snow, salt and humidity, Subaru will be recalling vehicles that have lived in certain states. Certified dealerships will fix the issue by either rust proofing or replacing the control arm hangers. This remedy will happen free of charge to the drivers.

The models affected would have been built between September 5, 2000 and November 26, 2007. Model year 2002 through 2007 Imprezas, 2003 through 2008 Foresters and 2005 through 2006 Saab 9-2Xs are being recalled. Potentially, 295,123 vehicles could be at risk but Subaru is looking at models originally sold in or registered currently in the states upper East Coast.
