Watch Leno Drive Bond’s Toyota 2000GT
It is no secret that Jay Leno is given the opportunity to drive many rare and exotic machines, but in one of the latest episodes of Jay’s Garage, he is given some time behind the wheel of a car that he though would elude him forever. A Toyota 2000GT.
This is no ordinary 2000GT wither, this is one of only two convertible models ever created. The convertibles were commissioned by MGM Studios to be used in the James Bond Film You Only Live Twice.
The convertible in question is housed in Toyota’s museum and Jay had received special permission from Mr. Toyoda himself to pilot the car. As it is, this near priceless piece of metal is being piloted at mundane speeds around an empty parking lot. Jay Leno or not, Toyota was not going to let their prized possession onto public roads. With Jay stating that a hardtop models will still pull $500,000 we can’t imagine the price this piece of Sean Connery driven history would fetch.
