Top Gear’s first new series since the departure of May, Hammond and Clarkson has come to an end, and to say it was a tumultuous relaunch would be a laughable understatement. Ratings have fallen to dramatic new lows, rumors of on-set disagreements and presenter hate are running rampant, and the overall fan response has been poor. Most of the internet’s vitriol seems to be focused around Chris Evans, and in response the radio host and presenter has announced that he will be stepping down from the helm of the BBC’s cash cow.

That’s right folks; Chris Evans has officially left Top Gear.

This announcement has elicited a chorus of cheers from the keyboard warriors in the forums, but it could make for more questions and concerns. Will Evans be replaced? Will Matt LeBlanc take over hosting? Will anyone else get cut from the team?

With filming for the next series rumored to begin in September, we hopefully won’t have to wait too long to see what happens. Chris Harris, Rory Reid and LeBlanc have quickly become fan favorites, so maybe we will end up with a new trio after all.
