Dallas Car Show

March 3, 2010 - March 8, 2010

There have not been many times in its 28-year history that the Dallas Auto Show has opened its doors to auto enthusiasts in February. But from Feb. 18-22, the 2009 Dallas Auto Show will be ready to introduce visitors to the best and the brightest that manufacturers have to offer at the Dallas Convention Center.

“February is an ideal month for an auto show,” said David Thomas, 2009 Dallas Auto Show chairman. “It’s after the holidays and a month before springtime and the beginning of outdoor activities. Metroplex folks are looking for forms of entertainment, and the Dallas Auto Show is the perfect solution to wintertime blues.”

More than half a million square feet of 2009s, 2010s and concept vehicles will fill five halls at the Dallas Convention Center. For 2009, many manufacturers are introducing new models and giving facelifts to existing models. Some of the 2009 vehicles scheduled to appear include: Acura RL and TSX; Aston Martin DBS; Audi Q5; BMW Z4 Retractable Hardtop; Cadillac Escalade Hybrid and CTS-V; Chevrolet Corvette, ZR1 and Traverse; Chrysler Aspen HEMI® Hybrid; Dodge Ram and Journey; Ford Flex and Ford F-150; GMC Sierra Hybrid; Hummer H3T; Hyundai Genesis, Elantra Touring Sedan and Sonata; Infiniti G37 Convertible; Jaguar XF; Kia Borrega; Lincoln MKS; Lexus Is 250C; Mazda Mazda6; Mercedes-Benz CLS Class and SL Roadster; Mitsubishi Galant; Nissan GT-R and Murano; Pontiac Solstice Coupe and Vibe; Porsche Boxster and Cayman; Saturn Vue 2-Mode Hybrid; Subaru Forester; Toyota Venza; and Volkswagen Routan.
Manufacturers also have plans to highlight their 2010 and beyond models. Vehicles scheduled to appear include: the 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon; and the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and Equinox.

“The Dallas Auto Show has become one of the premier auto shows in America, said Jerry Reynolds, president of Car Guy Media. “There is no better place to go see and experience over 700 vehicles at once. The Dallas Auto Show is the one event each year I will not miss!”

Returning to the Dallas Auto Show this year is Operation KidSafe, a child security/identification system, that will be sponsored by Univision 23. On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21 and 22, representatives from Operation KidSafe will take children’s pictures and capture their fingerprints. The only record of the visit goes home with the family.

“This was a highly successful event last year, as Operation KidSafe fingerprinted approximately 800 children during the two-day event. We hope to continue offering this important service to metroplex area families in the years to come,” Thomas said.

In conjunction with Operation KidSafe, Univision 23 once again will be on location on Saturday and Sunday along with an expert to talk about the safe installation of children’s car safety seats.Twenty quality certified safety seats also will be given away during Univsion’s appearance.

“I believe that our outreach to the community regarding child safety seat demonstrations was very successful last year. It was a great opportunity for us to have an important one-on-one engagement with our viewers and Dallas Auto Show attendees to address this important auto safety issue,” said Becky Munoz-Diaz, vice president and general manager, Univision 23/TeleFutura 49.

Also returning to the Dallas Auto Show will be the Toyota Behind the Wheel Adventure.“Toyota is excited about bringing their highly acclaimed ride & drive program back to the Dallas Auto Show for a fourth consecutive year,” said Mark Ruvelson, executive producer for George P. Johnson.

“The program has been expanded, so in addition to driving a Toyota Tundra, Tacoma & FJ Cruiser on a high-intensity off road track, guests will also be able to test drive the new fuel-efficient Venza and Matrix on a street course. With a wider line-up of models to drive, and a free gift for all participants, there’s something for everyone at the Toyota Behind the Wheel Adventure.”

New to the Dallas Auto Show this year is the Southwest Automotive Aftermarket Show (SAAS) .The SAAS will bring together the aftermarket manufacturer and suppliers with new car dealers and the aftermarket retailers, jobbers and installers. Exhibitors will have the unique opportunity to promote their aftermarket products and services to the emerging new car dealer market segment, to the aftermarket retailers and installers and ultimately the end user.

“The show is designed to strengthen existing market channels with aftermarket retailers and installers, build new relationships with new car dealers and building market demand with car, truck, SUV and motor sports enthusiast,” said Blaine Siske, Executive Director for the Southwest Automotive Aftermarket Show.

Also featured at the Show will be an impressive exhibit from The Dallas Morning News, DallasNews. com and cars.com, sponsors of the 2009 Dallas Auto Show; classic car exhibits by Lone Star Corvette Club, Corvette Legends, North Texas Mustang Club and the Z Car Club; games and contests from the Media; and automotive products and services in the Allied Area.
