Chevy Truck C-30 1988 will not start? topic posted in Chevrolet Forum

    The dash lights. Battery is good. Starter checks out. will not start when turning key. Took clutch switch out of line.

    You may need to check to see if a fuel filter is plugged . Also , check to see that the engine is getting fuel - BE CAREFUL and be sure you have a fire extinquisher at hand !
    Also , check to see if your sparkplugs are firing and TAKE CARE the sparkplugs , with the coil , generates a lot of voltage !
    Have you made sure that the starter is turning the engine over as it normally has ? Sometimes the engine is not turning over quickly enough and , is your firing order been changed ?
    It is difficult to determine what is wrong but you are doing the right things by eliminateing possibilities so that you can narrow it down to the problem .

    has it been really cold? maybe you flooded the engine.

    If you jumpered the clutch switch and the truck still does not start, and does not crank , I would suggest the ignition switch. (the electrical part, not the key & tumbler)
