I have a Yamaha v star 650 bike, how often I need the valves to be adjusted ?

I have a 2002 yamaha v star 650 , it had 11,500 miles when I got it, as today it has 14,500 miles , the dealer could not tell me when was the last time previous owner ajusted the valves, I'm afraid it may break at any time if the valves do not get adjusted , mi questions are :
every how many miles the valves needs to be adjusted ?
it will be any sign of noise or vibration befor it happens?

If you have an owners manual it'll have a graph indicating service intervals.If you don't have one ask your dealer for them or get a service manual and it will be in there as well as step by step proceedures and clearances for adjusting them.
