...dies used scanner gave code 51? the p/u has 80,000 miles on it has had regular oil changes . gas milage has become terible . i donthave any idea what code 51 is , the gm dealers say their books dont go back that far.

Check your vacuum lines, could have a small leak. This could explain some of these symptoms, especially idle problems. (could be many other things too). If you know where the vacuum lines are, take a can of wd40 and lightly mist all around the vacuum lines with car idling. If this process changes the idle a bit, bingo.
