1996 Ford Taurus catalytic converter question?

Can I replace the '96 Taurus catalytic converters myself without having to do any welding? I don't weld. I rather not take it to a mechanic, trying to save money. While replacing the cats, do I need to replace the O2 sensors? How can I tell if the O2 sensors are bad?

If the O 2 sensor is bad you will be getting a code from the computer (check engine light will be on) You will have to have the code read to see if that is what caused the light to come on. Otherwise I wouldn't worry with it. You can change the cat. yourself. You will need one that fits the exhaust pipe or you can use adapters to make it fit length ways and the correct diameter. Just put everything together with exhaust clamps.
