4 cylinder, 5 speed manuel shift, fuel injected, no ac, 90,000 miles, starts intermittent. battery and alternator are fine. i'm wondering if it's the starter, fuel pump, OR could the clutch be failing? the last time it didnt start i tried to pop clutch at about 2.5 mph and it didnt start. it will briefly turn over but then i hear a "clunk", like a mechanical failure. it's like the clutch isnt engaging....any thoughts? thank you!
i hear the starter click and it turns over briefly, (like a bad battery would do). when it does start it seems to shift fine. it's only failed on me once and it started 30 minutes later. but ive been noticing how it does this same thing if i dont have clutch all the way to floor. the starter relay sounds interesting. maybe it is electrical....
and no, it doesnt just turn over and over. and goes "chug", and and then you hear a slight buzz.

If it were just the clutch, the truck would still start up but not engage. If the truck does not start at all, what does it do? Does it just turn over and over like it is getting no fuel? Check your fuel pump make sure it is coming on. Check your Control Relays, they are usally in the fuse box which is under the dash on the sonoma. Check make sure your not hearing a clicking sound from any of the control relays. Also check your fuel filter to make sure its not stopped up. Also check your ignition relay, that would stop it from starting up. Give me a little bit more info on what your truck is doing and ill help as much as I can buddy ;)
