2004 Mercury Sable will not move.?

I was pulling out of the parking lot and everything worked fine then about 10 feet later the car just stopped t would not move. i can see it shifting there was no warning before this do any body have a anwser to this. it also has transmission fluid.

possibly a torque converter (im pretty sure all sables are automatics)... and it could also need new friction plates or steel clutches in the tranny (rebuilt)... either way, not cheap
