Sat up for about year. Cranked it up drove about 35 miles it started running hot, the lifters tapping loudly (sounded like diesel engine), and began to loose power. Didn't seem like the water was circulating so I replaced the water pump, changed oil, and oil filter. No longer runs hot but lifters still tap lightly but get louder the longer the car runs. so I change the oil again, put a thicker oil (Delo 10w40) and some STP . nothing changes. The car can run for about twenty miles and then begins to loose power and lifters begin to tap really loud. And the longer you go without running the car the farther it will travel before acting up. I also have been running 89octane gas. Have dropped oil pan and cleaned oil pump screen(not to dirty). I also have taken off a valve cover there was some baked on oil but nothing caked on or looked gunked up. I still run the car 2 or 3 times a week in 10 mile sperts. Is it the oil pump? Catalytic converter (back pressure causing lifter tap)? or what?
