I am thinking about buying a truck that was previously owned by a mechanic, who I do not know and never talked to. The truck has a 1990 GMC Sierra 1500 chassis with a '98 engine, transmission and dashboard. The original truck ('90) was an automatic and he switched it to a 5 speed and put in a '98 4.3L V6 vortec. The dash, transmission and engine all came from the same truck ('98). The odometer reads 110K and hopefully that is the mileage on the new engine. The truck has the exact look that I want but I don't know that I should trust all these modifications. And, I don't know what vortec means. Are these modifications feasible and would you trust a used truck that was almost completely rebuilt. The truck will cost $2,700.
