I have a Cadillac CTS which is only 6 months old, the brakes constantly squeek when I stop. I brought the car in 2 times and it never does it while its in the shop. They said its normal that they squeek sometimes. Which I think is bull. When you spend that much on a car the brakes shouldnt make any noise. Has anyone else had this problem?

A very common problem could be a loose shim on the back of the brake pad or the inserts on the caliper housing could be moving around. Just a question if this car is an 07 why not take it to the dealership over and over again under warranty eventually the squeak will go away cause they will get so sick of you.

Take the car to a brake shop or reliable mechanic you know, and ask the to bevel the leading edge of the brake pads. If they don't know what you are talking about, keep looking until you find someone who does, and have them do it. It shouldn't be very expensive... I would guess an hour or hour and a half labor. Brake dust can build up and get in between the pad and the disc surface and cause squeaking and squealing. Beveling the edge of each pad will prevent the build up, and the noises. Another, bit more expensive, solution would be to have the brake pads replaced. It's possible that the existing ones are contaminated with something. Best of luck!
