Buick Regal vs Oldsmobile Intrigue?

Hi I'm looking around for my first car, and while I've got a long yet to decide, it's never too early to start looking. I'd like some opinions on this though.
I'm looking at midsize sedans and came across the Intrigue first, which I'm convinced would be a perfect car for me. But then I was looking at the Regals (although GS would be a seller, I doubt if I can find one around here for sale so LS hypothetically) and I see a couple benefits with the Buick. But the Olds has benefits too.
I'm looking at the Olds with the 3800 in this particular comparison.

So please, say which one you would choose if you were in my situation. I'm trying to keep this somewhat short, so decide in your own opinion.

Budget of about $5,000usd at the very max. Another note, I've looked and I'm not interested in Hondas or Toyotas.

The Regal and the Century are great cars for rookie drivers, even Consumer Reports recommends them. I would get one, but of course, you will need to take it to a mechanic for inspection before buying.

Good luck, a good sedan is better than those little imports full of mods.

I myself prefer Oldsmobile. That's probably because growing up we had a POS Buick Skylark. But....my sister has a BEAUTIFUL Buick Regal...Supercharger..She has a black one with tinted windows. She is 21. It's a sharp looking car that came with a nice system and rides nice......I would trade her cars in a heartbeat....Buick they say is an older persons car...I say BS...That car is sweet....
Best wishes....

Buick Regal - My mother had one and it drove very well for a very long time. A classy, smooth, responsive ride with many little luxurious extras available. Strong, reliable engine.
