can i afford to buy a brand new car?

im 18 y/o, and i have a job i earn like $500 every two weeks. i dont pay no bills except for my phone bill.
and i just got my license and im thinking of buying a new car? i was thinking if i can afford it..or if i cant i'll end up buying a used car.. insurance i think wud be easy coz my dad will add me up in his car insurance for our family car.

and also i was thinking of buying a new honda civic or scion tc or maybe an elantra..they're not expensive to buy right?like the payment ill pay monthly and other stuff..

The biggest factor here is if you'll still be living at home for the next 5 years. The last thing you want to do is take on a car note, then when you want to move out, you can't, or have to sell the car.
