Car not acting the same:( 1999 Ford Escort.?

I have a ford escort and can some one give me signs that your transmission is about to fall out. used 2 when i fould floor it it would kick down and go faster. now only sometimes it will do that. I bought it new in 1999 Ford Escort SE Automatic.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you checked the transmission fluid level lately? It may be low, or need to be changed. Stop by your nearest Cottman, they'll check it out for free.
