Clutch release bearing gone on a 1994 Fiat Punto. Worth fixing??

Hi everyone,
I've got a 1994 75SX Fiat Punto and I'm pretty sure the clutch release bearing (also known as a thrust bearing according to my dad) has gone. When you put your foot on the clutch it shudders quite a bit and when trying to put it into gear it squeals like a dying pig - nice!

Once in gear the car runs fine so I'm pretty sure it's just the clutch release bearing and not anything major inside the gearbox itself. What do people think??

Does anyone have an idea of how much this would cost to fix? Given the car is probably only worth a few hundred quid it makes me wonder if it's worth it to be honest. Is it something you could fix without a garage? I used to take my old Nova to bits but this sounds like a bigger job.

Failing that does anyone know of a reputable garage in the Clapham Junction area of London? I've only taken my car to a garage in London once for a service and the term cowboys would be an understatement!

Lots of questions - hope someone can help!
Dave
