Do I need auto insurance to get my license?

i live in il and i'm about to finish drivers ed and take the test for my license at the end of this month so i don't know if i need proof of insurance when i go get my license
i don't have my own car so i'd be driving my parents's cars and they have insurance

You have to have insurance if you want to drive. You could get in alot of troubel if you got in a wreck wit h no insurance.
