Does my car (Mitsubishi Diamante 02) need steering fluid or steering work?

When I turn my wheel to the right or left it makes a loud noise and it is a little hard to turn my wheel. I don't know if I just need steering fluid or some serious work here?

did you check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir?

I suggest you start with power steering fluid. Fill the reservoir up to the full mark. Do not overfill. If you are loosing fluid, there has to be a leak. You may need a power steering pump or you could have a leaky seal. Have it checked out by a professional.
