The new Focus RS model will not use 2.5L five-cylinder supercharged engine in the previous generation but a smaller displacement engine, the Mustang 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine, with maximum power up to 350 horsepower.

The current model uses a mechanical differential to solve the problem of understeer.
