How to tighten a drive belt tensioner on a Mercedes Benz?

The drive belt tensioner on my 1987 300 SDL is loose and I need to know how to tighten it myself. Please help! Thanks!
Actually, I need to know WHERE the tensioner is... sorry I'm translating for the boyfriend <wink> And I'm not sure if it is auto or manual.
