I have a 1995 Mercury cougar it is acting like I am going oer mini speed bumps

mostly when going up a hill? I was wondering what could be wrong with it I have heard it could be transmission slipping a bad transmission switch a bad mass air flow sensor I was hoping for some advice for when I take it to mechanic I do not get sold something I do not need since I am not very educated when it comes to mechanics have put new new control arm and bushings on front it is a mercury cougar x r7 8 cyl 4.6 or 4.8 I think
