I have just bought a car with a MOT but no tax?

How long will it take to insure and tax, over the phone or internet, I would like to be on the road today if possible?

You could get it insured immediately over the phone. Road tax takes a bit longer as you can't do it online until the insurer puts it on their database, and you can't do it at the Post Office until you get the certificate.
