Is a bmx bike or a mountain bike better for not well made, medium sized dirt

jumps? (Im a beginner)? Im a beginner with a bad bike. I made some dirt jumps that 2 - 4 feet high,not very good ones. I cant decide which bike to buy. My price range is 0-400$. Please give me suggestions of what bike to buy (links to them)

Well, it depends what you want to accomplish. BMX bikes are really light. I think redline makes a good BMX bike. Thats what my son uses.
