I paid off my car almost 2 months ago. I received a letter from the bank, with a copy of my loan stamped "paid" and a note mentioning if my title was not included in this letter that it would be along shortly. I still havent received the title and would like to go shopping for a new car and trade the old one in. Is it possible to trade it in with out the title? I've heard sometimes dealers roll the trade-in's loan with theirs when a person is buying a new car, but I am not sure about when there is no longer a bank on the title. I spoke with my bank and they said to call back monday afternoon, but I was hoping to go look at a car I wanted this weekend.
Is my car title needed when trading it in for a new car?
