The renewal came through and had gone up about 20%.When challenged they pointed out my wife was a named driver. So i asked the question, when can we both be driving it.

Well, if your wife drives it as well, there will be more miles done in the car so more chance of an accident.

Also, your wife may have a worse record than you for claims and is seen as a high risk.

just switch insures rob people blind.
i am named on my dads car and after 1 year it went up by about £800
which came to £1400 over all
so we swicthed and we got it for £500, i have neaver had an accident to date (touch wood ;p) and my dad only had one 4 years ago. most of the time they just put it up cus they can so just switch.
if ur from the uk may i sugest the postoffice for car insurance? if not just change as you might just be supprised on what u can save.
hope i helped.

1. Has she ever been involved in an accident.
2. Has she made any previous claims with another insurer.
3. How long has she been driving
4. How old is she etc. etc.
5. Is she on temporary cover

Could be any number of reasons.

I think it is to deter your wife from driving.

Having seen your wifes driving i think they are right.

You think this is bad, wait til you add a teenager. It's not a matter of only one can drive the car at a time, there are 2 liabilities. You each can have an accident at different times. Also you each get accident medical coverage under your policy. At least in my state you do.
