When I come to a complete stop and go to take off, it cuts out but doesn't stall. It doesn't do it all the time. It's not like it boggs out. It acts like there is a short somewhere in the electrical wiring.

Remove the distributor cap and inspect the small green and white wires from the pick up coil to the module. The wires tend to break and when the advance diaphragm moves the pick up coil the wires lose contact. Lightly tug on the two wires from the pick up coil, if they are bad they will fall off in your hand.
Could be weak accelerator pump or defective check ball in the accelerator pump well.

you may just need a really good tune up,when things start getting wear and tear on them they don't work right, you should also include in your question whether its fuel injection or a carburetor it also helps in answering a question like this, the timing will make one run like that though, along with anything fuel related or tune up related, good luck.

May be the accelerator pump inside the carb. The accelerator pump sprays more fuel when you first press on the pedal. A bad pump would cause hesitation and possible engine stall when you first hit the gas.

May be a stuck choke? Does this problem happen only when cold, or only when warm, or all the time?
