Problem with an year 2000 VW Passat estate with an automatic transmission.?

When I drive from a cold start, for about 10 mins or until the engine is heated up, the gear changes to neutral and goes for a jerky start everytime I take my foot off the accelarator (gas) and press it again. Once it is heated the car works just fine.
Has it got something to do with transmission(gearbox) oil?
Could it be something worse?

yes it should be sth related to z transmission fluid. exactely z same problem happened to my 2002 honda passport and it is fixed by z dealer for free. they told me zat they changed the transmission fluid. now it is workin good. don't take time z problem may be aggravated!

Spot on! your trans-oil is low and when the car is cold it is thicker and not coating to give a smooth gear change, top the oil up should do the trick!
