Problem with my Saab Convertible?

My 99 Saab 9-3 Convertible is experiencing soft top problems. When I purchased the vehicle a month ago the soft top went down with no problem. Now I am receiving a soft top failure error when I try to put the top down. I tried putting it down last week and it barely moved before the STF message popped up on the SID. On Friday I tried to put it down and it got halfway before the STF message popped up. Today...a 60 degree day, I tried again to put it down and it made it most of the way before the STF message popped up. Has anyone ever had this problem with their SAAB convertible? If so, what did you do to correct it?

Sounds like to me that the STF reading might be caused by the computer picking up on an over amperage situation of the motor that works the mechanism, or, you might have something jamming it.
