Hi there I bought a car that is about 100 miles away, and is in another state. I will get a ride there to pick it up. But what do I do about insurance do I get some or other temp. insurance to drive it back to my home town? or do I get insurance where I buy it? What is the procedure in this case? Thank you

Call you current insurance company and have them add it to your policy before you go get it all they will need to know is the VIN#. If you don't have current insurance call and get it in the state you will be living.

Don't wait! the 20 day thing only applies to if you have insurance and it will only cover what your policy that you are replacing had. So if you just have liability on your old car and you crash the new one then they will not replace the new car just pay any liability expenses.

My state doesn't make you show proof of insurance at the DMV. (I wish they would) Every state has different rules/laws so just take it to be safe.

Good Luck!

if you currently have ins, dont worry about it most state laws give you like 20 days or so. if you dont have any ins, you might want to insure it asap. in your home town if possible. just call the seller and ask for the vin and all that good stuff. hope it helps
