SAAB 900 Turbo Key Ignition block, the key is just spinning back and forth?

I put my key in and it just turned with no grabbing of the inner lock, it turned on the idiot lights and stuff. I cant get them off with the key. I took the center console off and pulled the hot gray wire to shut down the car. In order to start it I need to jumper the 2 wires. The key is doing nothing, just spinning. Is the key ignition a seperate piece? Thanks for your help.

You've got the console apart, now remove the electrical part of the switch from the tumbler and look both parts where they join together. Either the electrical part is stripped where the tumbler spins it or the tumbler tab that spins the electrical switch is broken. Replace both if they look worn.
