what kind of car to buy?

hello yahoo'er's,
im looking into buying a used car, probably from a dealer, or unless i can find a good bargain around town. I live in florida if anyone knows of anywhere. I am looking for things reliable, good on gas, good for highway driving and is a decent car. Im looking to spend up to $8000 is my max. anyone know of anything good and worth buying? i dont mind if its a small truck, small suv, sedan, or sports car. just reliable

If you are buying a used car, I simply suggest going with the time-honored cars that last forever: Toyotas, Hondas, Subarus, some Fords (the Escort, surprisingly)...

Look around. See the cars that are older? Go with those.
