What performance upgrades can i do to a 1995 Chevy 4.3L 262 V6?

I bought a parts vehicle cheap to pull drivetrain parts from to put on an existing S10 Blazer that belongs to my brother, but found that the engine in the parts vehicle actually runs (although rough, like the timing were off) so I decided i would pull the engine and transmission to use for a yet undecided custom kit-car project. This means that the engine does not have any limits such as hood clearance or header clearance, since i will end up building the vehicle around the finished engine.

I have seen supercharged versions on ebay called Typhoons, and was wondering how those compared power wise. My engine is a type W (8th vin character) and currently has the full wiring and EFI system. Would it be worth it to extract these wiring systems and reuse them, or to just switch to an aftermarket intake, an HEI distributor, and a good 4-barrel carb.

What would be good performance upgrades to do to the 4.3V6 with about a $1500 budget, $2500 maximum? Or just to do a good forged rebuild?
