Why does a Humvee and other SUV's slow down when crossing the Train Tracks?

Hi all, the street from where I live has a Train Tracks. Its not that high or elevated, and when you cross it, you sometimes don't feel anything at all. I drive a Honda Civic, sometimes the car in front of me are Ford Explorers, F-150 Trucks, Dodge Durango, Cadillac Escalades and the popular Humvee. What gets to me is, these vehicles which are designed for off road climbing and Mobility, literally slow down and sometimes come to a complete stop when they cross this railroad. I would be honking my horn behind them and screaming "YOUR TRUCK IS BUILT FOR THAT DUMMY!"
That Train Tracks has a Flashing Red Light and gates go down when a Train is coming tru within 500 Feet!
