I've got a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with the basic AM/FM radio (no cd/cassette). Everything worked great, but I wanted MP3 functionality, so I found the MP3 model GM radio out of another 2005 Silverado. Went to plug in the new unit and it has two slots on the back unlike the origonal which only had 1 slot. The one harness in the truck fits into one of the two slots in the new radio . With the one plugged in it plays and sounds great, but there isn't any lights for viewing the radio at night and it doesn't "dim" with my headlights. I'm guessing the nicer MP3 unit came out of a 2005 Silverado with OnStar which is why it has two slots where as my Silverado doesn't have OnStar. Could be wrong there, but would like to have lights for seeing the radio at night. Thanks for reading my question and look forward to your answers!
