i have a 95 subaru impreza and was told the mass airflow sensor is possibly

bad. is there any way to test it? the car suddenly died and when i try to start it, it backfires and dies. we unplugged the mass airflow sensor and the car ran for a short time, but the next time i started it, it backfired and died again. any suggestions????

Yes once you figure which wire is sending information to the computer you can see if its correct or not also you would have to check the wiring itself to make sure there are no breaks in the wire causing the symptoms. usually this is done by wiggling the wires and see if the problem occurs or corrects itself when moving wires
