The 2011 Rally America Championship is now in the past and Subaru game out of the mud with the title in hand. David Higgins, Subaru Rally Team’s (SRT) shining star, was responsible for the win at the season finale that took place at the New England Forest Rally. With the help of his co-driver Craig Drew and the angry, rally-spec 2011 Subaru WRX STI, Higgins took home the 2011 Drivers Title as well.

“It’s amazing and hasn’t really sunk in yet,” said Higgins. “Everything meshed really well and our Subaru STI was a joy to drive fast. Driving for Subaru is every rally driver’s dream as the brand is so famous for rallying, so this is something really special for me.”

Replacing former SRT driver Travis Pastrana, David Higgins joined Subaru for the 2011 season. Since then, he has smashed rally records including the Mt. Washington ‘Climb to the Clouds’ Hillclimb. During the 2011 season of Rally America, Higgins earned Subaru three overall victories over a six course season. With Driver’s Title in hand, Subaru’s newest driver isn’t stopping anytime soon as he will compete in the ESPN Summer X Games 17 taking place later this month.

”Both David and Craig have done a stellar job the entire season extracting the utmost performance from their STI, supported by the solid car preparation by our team,” said James Han, motorsports marketing manager for Subaru of America, Inc.
