It has barely been two years since GM refreshed the Silverado family of pickup trucks, but that is not going to stop them from making improvements. Redesigned for 2013, the Silverado is racking up sales with a 32-percent uptick in units sold for all Chevy trucks so far in 2015. With that in mind, Chevy wants to keep momentum high and is introducing a visual upgrade for the 2016 model year.

The new Silverado has brand new nose with a sharper hood, completely redesigned grille, new headlamps, new LED foglamps, and a new bumper. This may be a mild visual refresh, but the truck looks completely new and different. I do wonder if the new headlights with the integrated grille trim will turn some buyers off, but I think the look is at least interesting and modern. That is not something I get to say very often about a pickup.

Other changes for 2016 include a greater penetration of the new 8-speed transmission across the lineup, and updated infotainment options including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies. The first public display of the new truck will happen later this fall, expect sales to begin shortly afterwards.

We only have one photo of the truck right now, but feel free to check out our gallery of the current truck below to compare.
