Chrysler sells record number of certified preowned cars

Chrysler Group dealers set a new record for sales of certified preowned vehicles in May.

The Auburn Hills automaker said its dealers sold 11,243 used cars and trucks last month, which is 5% more than were sold in May of 2006 and 8.4% more than April 2007. The company also said it has sold 53,829 vehicles so far this year, which is also a record.

Chrysler classifies a certified preowned vehicle as ranging from model years 2002 to 2007, having less than 65,000 miles and passing a 125-point inspection. The vehicles are also backed by an 8-year/80,000 mile powertrain limited warranty.
