Fiat is looking to build off the successes of the current 500 with the addition of a larger, more family-friendly four-door with seating for five.

Sharing many of the same styling and design elements as its little brother, the 500L is pure Fiat, but is more likely to appeal to US buyers with its added cargo and people-hauling abilities.

The 500L is obviously longer, hence the “L”, with four real doors and a rear hatch. It’s also taller in both ride height and interior headroom. Cargo capacity is fairly good for a B-segment vehicle. With the rear seats stowed and the front passenger seat folded, it can hold more than a Mini Countryman.

Power comes from a 1.4-liter four cylinder making 160 hp and 184 lb-ft. of torque. EPA numbers haven’t been released yet, but we suspect combined miles per gallon will fall in the upper 20s to low 30s. The 500L is produced in Kragujevac, Serbia and goes on sale in the US this summer.
