For the 2012 model year, Ford is offering a special option on the F-Series pickup that will allow for some serious hypermileing. Available as a standard option on the F-150 4X4 with the 3.5 liter turbocharged V6 EcoBoost will be a 36 gallon fuel tank. With the new tank and the EcoBoost’s high-for-its size highway fuel economy rating, up to 765 miles can be had on one tank of fuel.

“We know the majority of our customers use their F-150s daily for work or play. It’s an essential tool that enhances their productivity,” said Doug Scott, Ford Truck Group Marketing manager. “Reducing downtime for fuel stops can help them do their jobs more efficiently or get more out of their leisure time.” To put the F-Series new range in perspective, an EcoBoost 4X4 will be able to drive from Atlanta to Detroit on one tank. As long as a driver doesn’t use every last bit of the turbocharged 420 lb-ft of torque under their right foot.
